Mountain Bike Guide- Slovenia

Mountain bike, tourism and everything around it – that’s us. Both my wife Martina and I are always on the go and looking for new things. If we are not in the hotel, then you will find us in the bike park. If we are not in the bike park, then we are out and about exploring new trails. And sometimes you´ll run into us at a mountain bike marathon abroad! Berghi, our hotel, has been focusing on mountain bikers since 2013.

When we first met, we travelled a lot by mountain bike while still working in responsible and corporate jobs. Back then, we visited many mountain bike hotels and centres and started to dream about our own mountain bike holiday accommodation. We eventually found a suitable building in Kranjska Gora in 2013 and decided to go ahead with the purchase! We were both convinced that Kranjska Gora offers great potential for cycling.

We have also been managing the Kranjska Gora Bike Park with great pleasure since 2014 and are delighted by the increasing number of visitors every year. We also like to explore on road bikes and have many ideas for road bike tours in the area. Come join us!

Jure arranged for his fellow guide, Julio, to take us on a tour in the Kranjska Gora area. The only guidance we gave them was that we wanted a reasonably challenging, 3-5-hour ride with views. We were initially a little apprehensive when Jure suggested the Vrsic Pass but by all accounts, it's a stunning bucket list ride and we didn't want to pass up the opportunity. After outfitting us with some excellent equipment (I'm not an experienced mountain biker but my partner, who is, was very impressed with the bikes), Julio suggested we ride 6km up the pass, then follow some dirt trails back down. What a ride! Yes, the uphill part - we did 18 of the switchbacks - was hard, but do-able. Some of the downhill trails were tricky but we were able to explore parts of the valley that we'd surely have missed, had we tried to do a ride on our own. I particularly appreciated Julio's expertise and easy-going attitude; his company added to the whole experience. And the views... simply incredible! I highly recommend this guide will add that we also enjoyed a wonderful stay in Jure's Hotel Berghi. Thank you, Jure and Julio!
