I was born in Tokyo, and moved to Sapporo via Nagano. I've skied for however long I can remember and I've been in love with skiing for 35 years now.  
My high school years were spent following outdoors related curriculum and skiing in the winter, whilst studying in the evenings. I then moved onto competing in Ski Cross at World Cup level twice, as well as competed in Big Mountain competitions.

I also have experiences as a ski instructor and a ski patroller, driven by my desire to help others through skiing. I spent 2 seasons at Niseko Moiwa and 5 seasons at Sapporo Kokusai ski resorts, where I now know really well. I also have 16 years of river guiding experience during the summer times in Hokkaido.

I jumped into the world of mountain guiding after my seasons at Sapporo Kokusai, and I currently manage the Taisetsu Ishimuro Hut whilst guiding Taisetsu, Tokachi and Hidaka areas (Central Hokkaido).

I have ski guided film crews and pro-riders from brands in the past as well. I would love to share the climbing, skiing and overall outdoor experience and beauty of it with you.

##### **I propose you this 6-day backcountry ski roadtrip in Hokkaido! We will be travelling from Sapporo to Asahidake area, stopping by my selection of spots with the best condition and best quality of powder snow.**  

The roadtrip will be a mixture of **classics** you see in magazines and videos to some **secret spots** that I discovered through my persistent exploration! If you're interest is in **touring and skiing in untracked faces** away from the crowds then you've reached the right place.

A stomach full of delicious Japanese cuisine and a rejuvenating dip in the hot spring 'onsen' will prepare you for another full day of skiing! Such **Japanese hospitality** are not to be missed if you're visiting this country!!

The itinerary of this tour will give you a full plate, from enjoying the open powder runs to experiencing powder skiing in between trees (trust me, it's fun!) to greeting some steep terrains.

This an intermediate level trip, so you'll need to have previous experience in backcountry skiing and to be a able to ski on advanced slopes.

I will pick you up at your hotel or at Chitose Airport at 8:30 a.m.

Then, we will drive up to one of the sites for the warm-up skiing. **(Kiroro, Sapporo Kokusai or Teine)**

Meet at your hotel or Chitose Airport.

Let’s enjoy skiing around **Sapporo area**. I will select the best site depending on the snow condition. It may be Kiroro, Sapporo Kokusai or  Teine. At night, we will stay at hotel in Sapporo.

Sapporo area

We will move to **Tokachi area a**nd we’ll stay at a hotel in Tokachi. I will prepare your breakfast and dinner. I will appreciate if you could pay for the ingredients.

Tokachi area

I will take you to **Mt. Asahidake** and we will stay at **Asahikawa** at night.

Asahidake

This day, I am happy to take you to the secret spot of my favorite area. We will stay again at the hotel in **Asahikawa** at night.

Backcountry ski safari in Hokkaido

When skiing and snowboarding comes to one’s mind, few people think about **Japan**. But this wonderful country guards an astounding secret: **Asahidake**. This **3-day backcountry snowboarding tour in Asahidake** will blow you away with its beauty and thrilling descents.

**Asahidake is the tallest mountain in Hokkaido**. As a matter of fact it is an active volcano with a **massive extension of land and endless steep bowls**. This remote paradise for snowboarders offers **great powder**. And its **uncrowded trails** will make you feel like **the whole mountain is just for you**.

The **powder snow in Hokkaido** is famous for being **light, dry and deep**. **Asahidake** in particular **offers unrivalled conditions for backcountry snowboarding** due to its ideal location. The cold winds all the way from Siberia as well as the Sea of Japan cover this volcano with **up to 14-18 meters of snow every year**.

Please note this is an **intermediate level program.** As such you should be comfortable **snowboarding tree runs**. You should also know how to **snowboard on advanced slopes** with steepness of 35 to 40 degrees. And, you are required to have **full control of your board** so you can stop anywhere.

But whether you are looking to improve on your skills or simply want new challenges, I’ll take you to the best places. You’ll be snowboarding in the deepest snow and reaching the best spots. **Everyday will be a different adventure**.

Additionally, each day you’ll end your adventure trying something different and delicious of the **Japanese cuisine**. And, after dinner you can relax at a hot spring, also known as **_onsen_**.

**The Anui people in Hokkaido call these mountains** _**kamui-mintara**_**. That means Gods’ playground. And indeed Hokkaido and Asahidake look like such. So join me on this magical trip and I promise you’ll feel like you are snowboarding amongst deidities.**

I will pick you up either at your hotel or at Asahikawa Airport. We have a full day of snowboarding after which we’ll stay in **Asahikawa.**

We’ll enjoy another amazing day of snowboarding. And in the evening, we’ll head back to **Asahidake**.

Once you are comfortable with the terrain, I will show you my secret spots. This night you’ll have two options for accommodation:either**Asahikawa or Sapporo.**  That depends on your choice of airport for departure.

On your last day, with an extra cost, I can drive you to **Asahikawa** or **Chitose Airport**, if you desire. Feel free to ask me.

##### **Join me for this amazing 3-day backcountry ski tour in Hokkaido. I will take you to the best powder areas based around Asahidake, the highest mountain in Hokkaido!**  

On this tour, you’ll be able to experience the popular and **classic backcountry skiing on Asahidake**, as well as some of my secret spots in the vicinity to hunt for **more powder snow away from the crowds**.

Aprés Ski in Japan involves delighting your taste buds and hungry stomach with **delicious Japanese cuisine**. Ending your day in a hot spring ‘onsen’ with its relaxing effect will prepare you for another fun and adrenaline filled day. I believe this trip will be a great opportunity for you to enjoy both **the world-class powder skiing** and the **Japanese culture and hospitality**.

Everyday we will go to different skiing spots. That way, you will be able to experience different types of snow, from light powder to dry powder. You will also enjoy variations in terrain, from skiing through the trees to carving your big turns in a wide open face full of pow.

As this is an intermediate program, you should know how to ski on advanced slopes with steepness up to 35-40 degrees. You need to be comfortable skiing tree runs and have full control of your skis, being able to stop anywhere.

Our trip will mix classic routes with my **very own secret spots**, places that I have discovered over years of exploration. This day I will pick you up from Chitose Airport at 8:30 a.m., or directly at your hotel. Later, we’ll drive up to either Kiroro, Sapporo Kokusai or Teine for the warm-up snowboarding.

Meet and greet, and snowboarding time

Today you’ll enjoy prime snowboard in Sapporo. Pending the best snow conditions we’ll go to Kiroro, Sapporo Kokusai or Teine. And then at night, we’ll head to Sapporo for a relaxing night at your hotel.

Sapporo

We will explore all the wonderful places for the best snowboard in Tokachi. On top of guiding you through the best spots, I want to share my cooking skills. So, I’ll prepare breakfast and dinner for you, and it would be greatly appreciated if you could pay for the ingredients.

Tokachi 

We’ll head to Mt. Asahidake and stay at Asahikawa at night.

I will take you to some of my favorite areas and show you secret spots. Then, we’ll head back to the hotel in Asahikawa to relax.
