We will start the **Everest base camp trek** after taking a 35 minutes flight from Kathmandu to Lukla airstrip (2860 m). From Lukla you will descend to Dudh Koshi river and follow it up stream through the Sherpa villages of Phakding. From Thulo Gumela you will enter the boundaries of Sagarmatha national park, whise great biodiversity will make this trek the journey of a lifetime.

You will trek up through the sub tropical forest of Sagarmatha and get to Namche Bazar, a Sherpa village that has been the gateway to Mount Everest ever since Sir Edumund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa marked the trail to summit Mount Everest on May 29, 1953. From the Namche Bazar you will continue trekking through the villages of Tengboche, Dingboche, Pheriche,  Lobuche and get to the Gorakshep. Gorakshep is the last village you will reach on this trek. From Gorakshep you will take two hikes, one to the Everest Base Camp (5380 m) and another to the Kalapatthar.

You will get to the Everest base camp on the 8th day of the trek. After then, you will trek back along the same trail through the Khumbu valley, Namche Bazar all the way to Lukla and get a flight back to Kathmandu. In Kathmandu, you will be invited to a farewell dinner from the team of Nepal Trekking Routes Treks & Expeditions.

Everest Base Camp Trek in Nepal, 14-day Itinerary from Kathmandu

**We’ll take you on a unique journey to the Everest Base Camp, hiking through remote mountain villages and staying in cosy tea houses in Nepal!**

On this 14-days trek we’ll will **explore the snow-capped peaks, alpine lakes, huge glaciers, milky waterfalls and the rich ecosystem of the Himalayas!**

We’ll hike through the **rugged terrain of Sagarmatha National park  and see the towering peaks of Mount Lhotse (8,516m), Mount Makalu (8,470m) and Mount Cho Oyu (8,201m)** along with witnessing the **majestic Mount Everest (8848m)!**

Our journey from Kathmandu will begin by taking a 35 minutes flight to Lukla. From Lukla we’ll descend along the Dudh Koshi river and follow it upstream to Phakding, a small Sherpa village.

Traversing the **lush sub-tropical forest in Sagarmatha National park, we’ll notice multiple endemic flowering plants, mountain birds, mammals and about 10 different kinds of Rhododendron!** And if are lucky, we might as well spot the colourful **Himalayan monal and musk deer!**

We’ll head further towards **Namche Bazar, a Sherpa village that has been the gateway to the Everest ever since Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay put their first steps on the peak in May 29, 1953!**

Continuing our hike through the villages of Tengboche, Pheriche and Lobuche, we’ll reach Gorakshep, our last stop.

We’ll reach the Everest base camp (5380m) on the 8th day. And the **feeling of standing there is unbelievable! You’ll be spellbound and humbled** **by the spectacular view** around you!

We’ll also ascend to **Kalapatthar(5545m)**, the highest point of our trip which provides **exceptional view of the Everest and the neighbouring snow covered peaks.**

Shortly we’ll descend on the same path through the Khumbu valley and Namche Bazar all the way to Lukla and fly back to Kathmandu.

After a farewell dinner in Kathmandu, you’ll spend the remaining days  **exploring the beautiful medieval Hindu temples and Buddhist monasteries** in the city.
