I will guide you on this truly epic and awesome 12-day extreme mountain biking tour of the Puna de Atacama, Chile, where we will traverse around this remote and amazing region full of **humongous and desolate red arid plains, towering and majestic mountains, and oasis-like tranquil lakes and lagoons**, all via the unique method of mountain biking.

The Puna de Atacama is a dry, high plateau nestled within the Andes of Northern Chile. **The landscape, scenery and terrain is often described as surreal, as there is very little flora or fauna around**, adding to the sense of otherworldliness.

We meet on the first day at Desierto de Atacama Airport in the Northern Chilean city of Copiapo, where all relevant safety and general information and gear will be dispensed.

From there we head off in to the wild frontier of Puna de Atacama, with the high altitude meaning conditions are often difficult, with **the first 8 days of the trip involving gradually acclimatizing to the conditions** as we increase the height we will be mountain biking on.

There will be 10 days overall of mountain biking and in-built rest, as we discover and explore the myriad of exquisite and exotic sights, with one whole day set aside for **tackling the awe-inspiring summit of Cerro San Francisco (6018m).**

There is also one relaxing and refreshing day set aside to **bike ride on the shores of the Pacific Ocean**, a great change from the moon-like landscape and terrain we have been exposed to.

We finish after 12 days by heading back to Copiapo, tired and happy at having explored one of the most unique locations in South America.

### **For a full week, I would like to show you the absolute best of the Canary Islands in Spain. And, I would like to show it all to you on a mountain bike!**

Our trip will begin in **Tenerife**, arguably one of the most stunning natural areas in the world. Full of rain forest, biodiversity, volcanic sands and the amazing blue ocean, the area around **Tenerife** is unbelievable. And you will get plenty of opportunity to see it up close, while also reaching staggering heights. Thus allowing you to see the area’s vastness, and beauty.

We will also bike through **Gran Canaria**, travelling through **barrancos** and forests. Another fantastic area you will get to visit, explore and enjoy on your bike during this trip is **Lanzarote**. In **Lanzarote**, we will venture from volcano to volcano. Up close, you will get to marvel at the craters of the summits, while biking on different paths, most of which are comprised of solidified lava flow!

In total, during this week long mountain biking adventure, you will get to visit **3 islands in the Canary Islands**. Every day will see you venturing to different atmospheres, seeing different things and biking on different types of terrain. Hence providing you with an experience that will be as diverse as the islands themselves.

In order to participate on this trip, you should be in **good physical condition**. You should also have **prior experience biking on natural and wild terrain**.

When it comes to famous peaks in the world, few match the magnitude of **Kilimanjaro (5,895m) in Tanzania**. And for **12 thrilling days**, I would like to guide you to the summit of this great peak during a biking and climbing expedition you will never forget.

Our approach to **Kilimanjaro**, which will take about **7 days**, will take your breath away. We will travel through forest and savanna, while also crossing rivers and lakes. Furthermore, during this great journey, you will have the opportunity to talk to people around the mountain, from the **fishermen at the Nyumba Ya Mungu lake** to the **Massais warriors in the villages** we will pass through.

There is a long list of highlights you will get to enjoy during the riding portion of this trip. They include the **Chemka springs, the volcanic Chala lake, the Materuni waterfall, the Rau rainforest** and so much more. There is, of course, a wide assortment of wildlife you will get to see during the approach as well. So, don’t be surprised if you spot a **giraffe, zebra, elephant, blue monkey, baboon, crocodile** and more.

After the 7-day approach, we will change from travelling on bike to travelling on foot. We will follow the **Machame route for 3 days to Kilimanjaro’s base camp**. After that, we will make our way to **Kibo**, the mountain’s central summit, early in the morning, so you can see the sunrise. Needless to say, the views from the summit are spectacular.

To enjoy this adventure, you should be in **excellent physical condition**. You should also have **prior biking and climbing experience** as well.

We will be **navigating the wide open tracks that wind around the expansive red and black terrain, whilst also negotiating the high altitude**, and making time to discover and explore villages, towns and cities along the way.

The Ecuadorian Andes is one of the prettiest and most gorgeous sections of the Andes Mountains, with its **abundance of natural reserves, volcanic lakes, flora and fauna, and colourful, vibrant villages**. Some of the cities nestled within include Quito, Otavalo, Cayambe and Banos.

Our journey begins when we meet at **Mariscal Sucre Airport near Quito**, where all relevant information about the trip will be given out.

From there we head off in to the volcanoes and mountains of the countryside, with every day providing us with a new challenge, **the high altitude physically testing us a we traipse and travail around the epic landscape, scenery and terrain.**

The cities of **Quito, Otavalo, Cayambe and Banos** are full of fascinating and rich histories and cultures, which we get to explore when stopping there.

The centerpiece of our journey is the **ascent of the mighty and majestic Cotopaxi, the highest active volcano in the world at 5897m** and a unique mountain biking location owing to the myriad of single tracks of the natural reserve near the summit.
