**Kilimanjaro’s** slightly smaller cousin **Meru** is the perfect place to go to acclimatize for a bigger peak. It’s also just a great climb in its own right. Join one of our experienced guides on a 3-day adventure to the summit.

**Mount Meru** sits in the beautiful Arusha National Park 70 km to the west of Kilimanjaro and at 4,568m above sea level, is the third tallest mountain in **Tanzania.**

On this hike, we’ll get to trek through the natural beauty of the national park. This area boasts stunning montane forests as well as amazing wildlife like **elephants, zebras, and monkeys.** As you get higher up the mountain, you’ll also get to see big craters and stunning views of the surrounding mountains.

We’ll spend anywhere from 3 to 14 hours hiking a day. Some parts of the trail can be very steep, so you’ll need a pretty good level of fitness.

You’ll be glad you put in the hard work, however when you’re enjoying the sunrise views of Kilimanjaro and the Tanzanian landscape from the summit.

We’ll pick you up from Kilimanjaro International Airport and bring you to your hotel in Moshi. There you’ll be able to meet your guide and go through a pre-climb briefing.

Arrival 

We’ll drive to Momela Gate where we’ll start walking. We’ll have a ranger escort for this part and will be able to spot animals like elephants, zebras, and giraffes. When we reach Miriakamba Hut after 4-6 hours of hiking, we’ll all eat together.

Journey to Meriakamba Hut 

On our second day hiking we’ll have a short but steep climb to Saddle Hut. On the way we’ll get awesome views of the Meru Crater and Ash Cone. We’ll hike for 3-5 hours on this day.

Saddle Hut

We’ll start very early (1.30 am) and with a steep incline. We’ll reach the summit just as the sun is rising. If we’re lucky we’ll get awesome views of Kilimanjaro Peak. We’ll then hike along a spectacular narrow ridge line before we begin to make our descent. We’ll stop for lunch at Saddle Hut then go all the way to Momella gate where you’ll be picked up to travel back to Moshi.

Summit Day

We’ll take you from Moshi to Kilimanjaro International Airport.

**Join us as we take you on a 5-day trip to Point Lenana (4,985m) on Mount Kenya, the second-highest mountain in Africa.**

A stratovolcano formed by layers of magma, Mount Kenya is **definitely worth exploring.**

Out of the three crests of this mountain giant, we’ll take you to **Lenana Point** which is easy to access both for expert climbers and newbies. In order to get to the higher points of **Batian (5199m), Nelion (5,188m)** specialized skills are required. However, the hike to **Lenana Point is fairly simple** and can be taken over by regular trekkers as well.

We’ll begin and end our journey in the **capital city of Nairobi.** There are **three routes to climb Mount Kenya-Naromoru, Sirimon and Chogoria.** And, of course, we will select the one depending upon your preference and skill level.

The trail initially takes us through **thick bamboo trees and leads unto a moorland**. You’ll get to see **stunning views of snow-capped peaks, lush valleys and Savannah** on the way and have an exceptional time.

And, we have also reserved one day for **acclimatization at Shipton Camp**, so you’ll have ample time to adjust.

Since we’ll be **passing through woods,** you might as well be lucky enough to **spot the rich wildlife of Africa.  What a delight it will be to see elephants, lions, bison, panthers and many more animals** in their natural home.

Ascending on a **steep stone quarry, we’ll finally get to Lenana Point to see a spectacular sunrise,** and thereafter descend via the same route to end this **amazing trip.**

We’ll pick you up from the airport and transfer you to La Maison Royale Hotel for overnight.

Arrive at Jomo Kenyatta Airport and transfer to Nairobi Hotel

We’ll begin at 7 am and drive for about 4 hours to get to Nanyuki town and halt there for lunch. Heading further, we’ll proceed to Sirimon Gate (2440m). From the gate, traversing dense forest which later becomes heath land after about 3½ hours, we’ll finally arrive at Old Moses Camp(3300m) for dinner and overnight.

Nairobi/Sirimon/Old Moses Camp 3-4 hrs, 9km, 860m ascent

After breakfast, we’ll follow the track uphill to cross Ontulili River. Heading right, traversing the moorland, we’ll cross Liki North and continue uphill to Mackinders Valley from where we’ll see panoramic views. Dinner and overnight at Shipton Camp, (4200m).

Old Moses Camp to Shipton Camp 6-7hrs, 14km, 900m ascent

We’ll spend the day acclimatizing. We’ll walk to Kami Hut down to Hauseberg Lakes (Hauseberg Tarn and Nanyuki Tarn) and head back to Shipton for dinner and overnight.

Shipton Camp –Acclimatisation day

Starting early at 3 am we’ll begin on the steep stony quarry that cuts through a cliff to reach Lenana point (6km from Shipton Camp) by 6:30 am. Here, we’ll see an incredible sunrise. Thereafter, we’ll descend to Mintos hut (6km) for breakfast and walk for another 4-5 hrs further down to get to Mount Meru Bandas (2950m) for dinner and overnight.

Shipton camp to Point Lenana to Mount Meru Bandas (Chogoria Gate) 11-12hrs, 32km, 785m ascent

Descending for about 2hr through the forest, we’ll reach Chogoria Village from where your transfer vehicle will take you back to Nairobi.  
Upon arrival, you will be dropped off at La Maison Royale Hotel for overnight.

Chogoria Bandas to Chogoria to Nairobi

**One of the least frequented routes to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, Rongai Route starts from the northeast side of Kilimanjaro, near the Kenya border. Join us on a 6-day trip to get to the top of Kilimanjaro via this amazing route.**

Rising above **Amboseli plains**, the route experiences low traffic and offers the easiest camping approach to the peak, alongside **offering excellent views of Kibo and Mawenzi peaks.**

We’ll begin by picking you up from **Kilimanjaro International Airport** and transfer you to **Moshi**. You will spend the rest of the day relaxing and renting the necessary mountain gear.

The next morning, we’ll drive to the village of **Nale Moru**, the starting point of the route. The trail leads through a **pine forest** where you will see the **wonderful Colobus monkeys and the rich animal life of the region including elephants and buffalos.**

The next few days will take us through **a moorland onto the Simba Camp, the Second Cave Camp and Kikelewa Camp.** Heading further, **we’ll cross the saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo to reach Kibo Hut.** The final ascent to **Uhuru peak** will begin from here.

Starting just past midnight, we’ll ascend slowly on scree slopes to reach **Gillman’s Point (5681m) just in time to see a spectacular sunrise.** From there, a further hike of 1-2 hours will take us to **Uhuru Peak- the highest point in Africa!**

The top offers stunning views of the neighboring peaks. And it will be no less than a humbling experience to stand on the **roof of Africa!**

After spending some time here, we’ll **descend via the Marangu route, taking back with us unforgettable memories.**

Although the trip can be completed in 6 days, it is recommended to stretch it by an extra day for better acclimatization. Also, you need to be in good physical shape to get onboard.

A steady ascent takes us to the Second Cave Camp which is located in the moorland. The camp offers superb views of Kibo and the Eastern ice fields on the crater rim.

Simba Camp (2625m) to 2nd Cave Camp (3480m)

Leaving the pine forest behind, we’ll continue walking through moorland. The trail offers excellent views of the Eastern ice fields on the crater rim of Kibo, the highest of the three volcanoes of the mountain. Heading further, we’ll get to Kikelewa camp at 3630m.

2nd Cave Camp (3480m) to Kikelewa Camp (3630m)

Descending into the ravine of the Great Barranco, we’ll further climb a wall. Passing underneath the Heim and Kersten glaciers, we head towards the Karanga valley, which will be our last stop for fresh water before the summit. Walking on scree, we’ll get to Barafu camp.

Kikelewa Camp (3630m) to Mawenzi Tarn Hut (4310m)

Cross the lunar desert of the ‘saddle’ between Mawenzi and Kibo, we’ll reach Kibo hut and spend the day preparing for the final ascent. The spot offers spectacular views of Kilimanjaro.

Mawenzi Tarn Hut (4310m) to Kibo Hut (4700m)

We’ll begin our final ascent around midnight and start towards the summit. Passing the Hans Meyer Cave at 5220m, we’ll climb slowly to reach Gillman’s Point (5681m) – the crater rim of Kilimanjaro to see a beautiful sunrise. A further hike of 1 – 2 hours will take you to Uhuru Peak (5895m), the highest point in Africa.

On our return journey, we’ll have a hot lunch at Kibo Hut, and get back to Horombo Hut.

**Also known as the Whiskey route, the Machame route is one of the most popular routes to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro. Alongside offering an excellent summit success rate, it also provides ample time for acclimatization. Come, join us on this 6-day adventure to get to the summit of Kilimanjaro via this amazing route.**

Beginning in the southwest of Kilimanjaro, the route takes us through **Shira plateau** and eventually joins the Shira and Lemosho routes just after crossing the Shira cave camp, **offering breathtaking scenery on the way.**

Starting at the **Kilimanjaro International Airport**, we’ll transfer you to your hotel in Moshi. From there, a drive of about an hour will take us to **Machame Gate**, the starting part of the trek.

The initial trail leads through **a dense rainforest, which finally gives way to moorland.** The next few days will be spent crossing **Machame Camp and Shira Camp until we reach the Barranco Camp.**

The route from Barranco to Barafu requires us to climb the **steep Great Barranco Wall, a true adventure indeed!** Heading on scree slopes, we’ll finally reach the campsite to prepare for the final summit hike the following day.

Starting early, **ascending on snow and ice, we’ll walk past the spectacular Stella Point to reach the Uhuru peak-the roof of Africa.** The top offers e**xceptional views of the neighboring peaks.**

After relishing our time here, we’ll descend to Mweka Camp and finally to Mweka Gate, **ending this incredible trip.**

Although the trip can be completed in 6 days, it is recommended to stretch it by an extra day for better acclimatization. Also, you need to be in good physical shape to get onboard.

If you’re looking for an awesome mountain climb that can also serve as an acclimatization climb for **Kilimanjaro**, then this is it. One of our certified guides will be happy to show you the way to the top of **Mount Meru.**

Tucked away in the stunning **Arusha National Park,** Mount Meru sits at 4,568 meters above sea level. It is the third tallest mountain in **Tanzania** and you need 3- 4 days to climb it. On this trip, we’re going to give ourselves the extra day so we can really soak up the magic of the climb.

#### What to expect

We’ll actually be escorted by a ranger from our start point at **Momela Gate.** Arusha National Park is home to some pretty impressive wildlife like **elephants, zebras, giraffes** and much more. So, we want to keep you safe.

You’ll hike through some of the most beautiful landscapes in Tanzania in this national park. Expect to see beautiful **montane forests, craters in the rock and views of mountains (Kilimanjaro)** in the distance.

This climb is not easy, on summit day you’ll hike for around 12-14 hours and there are parts of this route that are steep. A high level of fitness is necessary.

We’ll organize a transfer to pick you up in the airport and take you to your hotel in Moshi. There you’ll meet your guide and go through a pre-hike briefing.

On your first day hiking you’ll actually be escorted by a ranger from Momela Gate. You’ll walk for 5- 6 hours on this day until you reach Meriakamba Hut just in time for dinner.

Day one 

Over 3- 5 hours we’ll hike from Meriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut.

Then in the afternoon we’ll hike to Little Meru (3,820m) to get some awesome views before the sun goes down.

Day two 

We’ll rise at 1.30 am to trek to the summit passing both Rhino Point (3,800 m.) and Cobra Point (4350m) along the way.

We’ll take some time at the top to enjoy the view before travelling down to Miriakamba hut.

Summit Day 

We’ll finish the last section of the descent before being picked up and taken back to Moshi to get ready for departure.
