Hello and namaste! My name is Tul Singh (Tulsi). I'm originally from the western part of Nepal and grew up near the Manaslu, the eighth highest mountain in the world (8156m). I am an avid mountaineer who works as both a mountain guide and instructor on mountaineering, rock climbing and ice climbing courses.

My first summit was on the Nagamari (6547m), a remote peak here in Nepal. Since then, I have reached the summit of Mount Everest twice, the summit of Cho Oyo (8201m) once and climbed to the top of Ama Dablam (6812m) five times. In addition to climbing mountains here in Nepal, I have also climbed some important peaks in Europe, the United States and elsewhere in Asia throughout my career. Some of the highlights include Mont Blanc, Mount Elbrus, Mount Rainier, and the lesser known Mount Sudarshan Parbat (6540m) in India.

I am an active member of the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA), the Nepal Mountaineering Instructors Association (NMIA) and the Nepal National Mountain Guide Association (NNMGA). Additionally, I work as a mountain rescuer and have had the privilege of participating in many successful rescue missions over the years.

**Join the intensive 20-day technical mountaineering course designed specifically for level I climbers.**

Explore the area of Mt. Naya Khang in the region of Langtang, tucked away in the Himalayas of Nepal.

The purely mountaineering course includes alpine rock climbing, ice climbing, as well as glacial activities and culminating in the peak summit climb of 5,800 meters.

Our climbs will be subject to the weather and climbing conditions on the day. Yet there are numerous options open to us including Mt. Naya Khang, Mt, Scout Peak and Mt. Tsorku Peak.

Other aspects of the course that you’ll become familiar with include mountain navigation, leadership skills, high altitude physiology, technical features of snow and avalanches.

As a fully-qualified IFMGA guide, I have a high level of experience and training for these specific activities, ensuring your trust and safety.

This 20-day course is suitable for people who are able to walk at least 5-7 hours per day carrying a 60-litre backpack. And as long as you have an average level of fitness, and a positive attitude and determination, then this trip is definitely for you.

It’s ideal that potential participants exercise and jog regularly in the weeks prior to the course to ensure a good level of fitness and strength.

Arrive in Kathmandu

Visit the city of Kathmandu and prepare for the trip, including an equipment check, and orientation program.

Kathmandu

After morning breakfast we drive out along the northwestern hills of Kathmandu. Enjoy the Himalayan views and mountainous lifestyle through the terraced fields and rustic villages. Take lunch at the trishuli Bazar before continuing further to Dhunche. From Dhunche we descent down to Syabrubesi.

Drive to SybruBesi

This is our first day of trekking. Follow the Langtang Khola river. Pass through the dense forest. Cross several suspension bridges. We also pass by tea houses. The trail goes up and down but it’s not that challenging. And in the evening we can talk about high altitude sickness/awareness also.

Trek to Lama Hotel

We embark on our second day of the journey. Our trail continues along dense forests. After making a steady climb up through the valley, we leave the trees line behind us. Enjoy the marvelous views of Langtang Lirung. Pass by a watermill, prayer wheels, and chortens, with sacred Munds of rocks with inscriptions carved on them.

Trek to Langtang Village

We get out of the village and pass through yak pastures, as well as the largest mani wall in Nepal, made from stone with prayers written on them. The prayers written on the mani wall is supposed to be blown away by the wind. We’ll cross several wooden bridges. Here we’ll be getting into the high altitudes, so you might start feeling the thin air. Gompa Kyanjin Gomba is surrounded by the Himalayas. You can take a walk around Kyanjin Gomba, enjoying the views of glaciers, icefalls, birds and yaks, as well as the mountains like Yubra, LangShisa Ri, Naya Khang, Kanchhengbu peak.

Trek to Kyanjin Gompa

Hike to Kyanjin Ri or Chhorko

Trek to Scout Peak/Naya Khang/ Tsorku Peak, lower base camp

Scrambling with alpine boots for the rocky sections, and a basic walking technique with backpack, an ice axe and trekking pole on snowy terrain.

Trek to higher base camp 

We are here for learning the crampon technique: flat footing, traversing, front pointing, using an ice axe, self arrest technique, introducing climbing gears.

Hike to Scout Peak/Naya Khang/ Tsorku Peak

Today we’ll concentrate on top rope ice climbing, belay safety, ice and snow anchorage technique, using an ice axe.

Today we focus on fixed line, fixing demonstrations, how to move on fixed lines on different terrain, and rescue technique.

Classes based around base camp, including how to search for victims in an avalanche zone, how to use an avalanche searching device (ARVA, probe, shovel), team building, avalanche risks, how to test snow conditions by shovel.

Rest day for summit

Today we will ascend to the top of Scout Peak/Naya Khang/ Tsorku Peak and descend back to the Base Camp.

Scout Peak/Naya Khang/ Tsorku Peak ascent day

Extra day if the summit day is cancelled by any weather hazard or other circumstances. 

Extra day for the summit or ice climbing  

After the successful summit, we will descend back to Kyanjin Gompa. We will stay at the same hotel. In the evening we will celebrate our successful summit. 

Trek back to Kyanjin Gomba

We will descend back to Lama Hotel today following the same trail that we did before. The river crossings, green forest and finally reaching Lama Hotel for overnight. 

We will continue our descent back to Stabrubesi and stay there overnight.

Trek to Syabrubesi

We will drive back to Kathmandu today. We will reach Kathmandu after 5-6 hours of drive. Lunch will be on the way.
We will have a farewell dinner in the evening. 

Drive to Kathamdu

Today is the final departure, our staff will drive you to the airport and help you to shift your bags from the hotel to the airport. We will bid a final farewell until next time!

Nepal Technical Mountaineering Level I Course and Climb, Langtang Region

Embark on a journey to **ascend Mt. Himlung, one of the prominent peaks in the Manaslu region** in Nepal. Explore the hidden gems of local traditions and pristine nature under the watchful gaze of this impressive, **8163 m (26,781 feet) high peak**. Get ready for the plethora of wildlife encounters, natural splendor, and the rich tapestry of Tibetan-influenced culture.

After completing necessary preparations and enjoying the sights of Kathmandu Valley, **the adventure begins with a scenic drive to Besisahar**. The journey unfolds amidst rolling hills and alongside the Trishuli River, passing through charming towns like Malekhu and Muglin.

From Besisahar, the trail leads you through Koto and onwards to the picturesque settlement of Meta. Enchanting waterfalls, verdant pine forests, rugged terrains, and awe-inspiring views of snow-capped peaks accompany your trekking odyssey.

As you traverse the path towards Kyang, crossing Chyakhu and the Murju Khola, you'll be captivated by the raw beauty of the surroundings. The ascent continues to the charming village of Phu, where you'll encounter yak pastures and revered chortens.

Following a steep climb from base camp, you'll **conquer Camp I, Camp II, and finally Camp III,** navigating snow-covered landscapes and utilizing essential climbing equipment. At the summit, a breathtaking panorama awaits, revealing Annapurna II, Pisang Peak, Lamjung Himal, Manaslu, and Annapurna IV.

Apart from its challenging nature, Mount Himlung also offers a **glimpse into the cultural diversity** of the region. The surrounding areas, including the Nar Phu valley, are inhabited by communities influenced by Tibetan culture. When you arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport, one of our staff members will be there to greet you. They will ensure your safe and comfortable transfer to your designated hotel in Kathmandu. You will spend the night at the hotel, ready to embark on your exciting journey.

Kathmandu Arrival and Transfer to Hotel

The first two days of your itinerary are dedicated to climbing preparations and necessary documentation. During this time, you will also receive guidance from experts on the proper usage of mountaineering equipment.

If time allows, you will have the opportunity to explore some of the UNESCO World Heritage sites in the Kathmandu Valley. Pashupatinath, Boudhanath, Swayambhunath, and Kathmandu Durbar Square are among the prominent destinations for sightseeing tours. Each day, you will return to your comfortable hotel in Kathmandu for overnight stays.

Preparing for the Ascent

The journey from Kathmandu to Besisahar is a scenic drive that takes approximately six to seven hours. Brace yourself for a captivating experience as you witness the incredible natural beauty and cultural diversity along the way.

Heading west via Prithvi Highway, you will be treated to breathtaking views while following the path alongside the Trishuli River. As you pass through charming towns like Malekhu and Muglin, you will gradually approach your destination, Besisahar. Prepare for an overnight stay in Besisahar, where you can rest and recharge for the upcoming adventures.

Drive to Besisahar

Following breakfast, the next leg of your journey takes you towards Syange. En route, you will be treated to magnificent vistas of majestic snow-capped mountains, enchanting waterfalls, meandering rivers, and lush green hills.

Continuing along the Annapurna circuit, you will pass through Baharchhap via Dharapani, immersing yourself in the rugged beauty of the trail. Eventually, you will arrive at the picturesque village of Koto, a drive of approximately two to three hours from Besisahar. Overnight stay in Koto.

Traverse to Koto

On the fifth day of your journey, you will venture into threstricted area of Nar Phu Valleys, after obtaining the necessary permit at the Police Check Post. As you proceed, you will pass through Soti Khola, where the trail is adorned with lush pine and rhododendron forests and adorned by picturesque waterfalls.

Continuing onwards, you will trek towards Dharmasala, encountering steep terrain along the way. The path will take you through sloping landscapes and narrow zigzag trails until you reach the welcoming settlement of Meta. Overnight stay in Meta.

Trek from Koto to Meta

At the break of dawn, you will commence your trek towards the scenic village of Kyang, treated to a breathtaking view of Pisang Peak (6,091m). As you make your way towards Chyakhu village, passing through Jhunum, you will encounter the crossing of two rivers, including the Murju Khola. The trail will then lead you through expansive terrains adorned with chortens, ultimately guiding you to the picturesque hamlet of Kyang. Overnight stay in Kyang.

Trek to Kyang

Continuing your trek, you will cross the villages of Kyang and Phu Khola. You will be treated to awe-inspiring vistas of snow-capped mountains, including the majestic Annapurna I (8,091m) and Annapurna IV (7,525m).

Along the way, you will have the opportunity to visit captivating monasteries that dot the path. As you draw closer to Phu Gaon, the magnificent sight of Himlung Himal will unfold before your eyes in the distance. Phu Gaon itself is a small medieval village, renowned for its unique culture and traditions. Overnight stay in Phu.

Hike from Kyang to Phu Gaon

Today's adventure takes you on a trek towards Himlung Base Camp. As you embark on this journey, be prepared to be mesmerized by the breathtaking mountain vistas and the serene beauty of yak pastures. The trail will lead you through snow-covered terraces and vast glaciers.

Departing from the path towards Ratna Chuli Base Camp, you will embark on a steep ascent to reach the pinnacle of the ridge. Finally, you will arrive at Himlung Base Camp, where you will set up your tents and prepare for a well-deserved rest. Enjoy an overnight stay at Himlung Base Camp.

Expedition from Phu Gaon to Himlung Base Camp

During this 15-day period, you will embark on your climbing expedition. After a well-deserved rest and a day dedicated to climbing preparation, you will begin your ascent from the base camp towards Camp I. Equipped with crampons and an ice axe, you will navigate the snow-covered terraces, crossing glaciers while enjoying the majestic views of towering snow-capped mountains. Eventually, you will reach Camp I.

The journey continues with a steep ascent from Camp I to Camp II, where you will traverse along a fixed rope. At the top of Camp II, you will be rewarded with an incredible panorama of the Annapurna range and the towering Dhaulagiri (8,167m). Moving forward, you will cross snowy hills to reach Camp III, where you may need to make several attempts for the final ascent to the summit of Mt. Himlung (7,126m).

Standing atop the summit, you will experience a profound sense of joy and fulfillment, as you are greeted by the awe-inspiring views of numerous snow-capped mountains. Retracing your steps, you will return to the base camp following the same path.

Overnight accommodations will be provided in tented camps.

Himlung Summit Ascent and Base Camp Expedition (15 days)

Leaving the basecamp behind, your journey continues as you descend towards Phu Gaon. Retracing the familiar trails, you will traverse through picturesque yak pastures, enchanting forests, undulating landscapes, and lofty hills.

As you make your way back, the magnificent vistas of Annapurna I (8,091m), Annapurna IV (7,525m), and Dhaulagiri (8,167m) will captivate your senses. After a five to six-hour trek, you will arrive at Phu Gaon, where you will spend the night.

 Trek from basecamp to Phu Gaon

As you make your descent from Himlung Himal (7,126m), you will embark on a journey towards Kyang, crossing the majestic Phu Khola. Along the way, you will pass through vast stretches of landscapes adorned with chortens, offering a glimpse into the rich cultural heritage of the region.

Continuing your trek, you will cross the settlements of Chyakhu and Murju Khola, eventually reaching your destination. From here, you will be treated to breathtaking vistas of Annapurna II (7,937m), Pisang Peak (6,091m), and Lamjung Himal (6,983m). Rest as you spend the night in Meta.

Hike from Phu Gaon to Meta

As the sun rises, you will bid farewell to Meta and commence your trek towards Koto. The trail will lead you through a descent. As you traverse this terrain, keep an eye out for the diverse wildlife and immerse yourself in the lush vegetation that surrounds you.

Continuing onwards, you will arrive at Dharamsala, where a peaceful ambiance awaits. From there, the path will guide you further down, accompanying the soothing sound of Soti Khola's flowing waters. Crossing numerous waterfalls and suspension bridges, you will follow the course of Nar Khola for a significant portion of the journey.

Embrace the natural beauty that unfolds before you as you approach Koto, where you will spend the night.

Journey from Meta to Koto

As the 28th day dawns, it marks the beginning of your return journey to Besisahar. As you approach the charming settlement of Baharchhap, you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the unique cultural traditions of the Sherpa and Gurung communities. Occasional glimpses of majestic snow-capped mountains will captivate your senses along the way, enhancing the scenic beauty of your trek.

Eventually, you will reach the welcoming town of Besisahar, passing through the settlement of Dharapani. Enjoy a well-deserved overnight stay in Besisahar.

Moving forward from Koto to Besisahar

Today marks the end of your Himalayan journey as you prepare to bid farewell to these majestic mountains. Departing from Besisahar, you will embark on a scenic six to seven-hour drive back to the vibrant city of Kathmandu.

Traverse the towns of Mugling and Malekhu, following the path that winds alongside the tranquil Trishuli River. Upon reaching Kathmandu, take the opportunity to explore the local markets and indulge in shopping for unique gifts and souvenirs. Conclude your day with a comfortable overnight stay at a hotel in Kathmandu.

Return to Kathmandu from Besisahar.

As your time in Nepal comes to a close, we have arranged for your smooth departure. Two hours before your scheduled flight, one of our team members will accompany you to Tribhuvan International Airport, ensuring that you arrive in a timely manner. We bid you farewell and sincerely hope that your time in Nepal has been filled with unforgettable moments.

Final day
