Description
On this 3-day hike, I will train and guide you to achieve the incredible feat of climbing the active volcanoes of Nevados de Chillán (3,212m) in Chile.
Located in the Bío Bío region, the Nevados de Chillán is one of the most active stratovolcano groups in Chile. A unique landscape of cracked lava, craters and glaciers is of particular interest to curious hikers!
With three overlapping peaks including Cerro Blanco (3,212m) at the northwest, Volcán Viejo (3,089m) at the southeast and Volcán Nuevo in the middle, Nevados de Chillán provides a challenge and amazing views.
The beautiful Laguna del Laja, also located in the Nevados de Chillán Biological Corridor Biosphere Reserve, is the main attraction of the volcanic complex. You'll be amazed as we approach the lagoon!
As you can imagine, mountaineering requires a combination of skill, patience and accurate technique. On this 3-day tour, I will train and guide you step by step to acquire the necessary skills to face any challenges we may encounter during the climb.
On the first day, we'll meet at the Ayun Koyam mountaineering facility in Chillán. We'll spend some time here preparing before beginning our journey toward the summit on the second day.
If you have your own technical equipment, please bring it along as we might traverse glaciers during our ascent. If you do not have this gear, I can provide it for you.

I've been practicing mountaineering for more than 30 years, always in the Andes, Cordillera Blanca, Cordillera Real and Patagonia. I was born in Santiago (Chile's capital city) but I've chosen to live in the mountains, close to a National Park and a ski resort. I also enjoy guiding in the volcanoes in southern Chile because of their incredible beauty!
My programs include accommodation in my beautiful and rustic cabins in a small village, so you'll also be contributing to sustain the local economy. Taking care of the environment is also a key element of my job and it is very important to me.

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice.
