Description

Tre Cime di Lavaredo is one of the most recognizable mountain groups in the Dolomites and an exceptional destination for multi-pitch rock climbing. This three-day program is designed for climbers who want to experience the full scale of the massif by attempting its three principal summits In 3 days.

Starting from Lake Misurina, you will climb with a local IFMGA-certified mountain guide with extensive experience in the Dolomites.

The standard program follows the easiest regular routes on the three peaks, with climbing difficulties of up to UIAA Grade IV. Because these are long alpine routes involving considerable short-roping, the trip is normally offered on a private basis for one guide and one climber.

Participants should already have intermediate rock-climbing experience and feel comfortable on long mountain routes. The precise itinerary, route selection and order of the peaks will depend on weather, mountain conditions and the participant’s ability.

Accommodation can be arranged either at Rifugio Auronzo, close to the Tre Cime, or at a hotel near Lake Misurina.

Itinerary

Day 1: First Tre Cime ascent

Meet your guide at Lake Misurina and travel toward the Tre Cime climbing area. After reviewing the conditions and the participant’s experience, the guide will select the most appropriate first summit and regular route.

Complete the climb and descend before returning to Rifugio Auronzo or the hotel at Lake Misurina.

Day 2: Second Tre Cime ascent

Climb the second of the three principal peaks via one of its easiest regular routes. The exact objective may be adjusted according to weather, conditions and progress during the first day.

Return to the selected accommodation after the descent.

Day 3: Final Tre Cime ascent

Attempt the third and final peak, completing the three-summit program. The guide will choose the most suitable route based on the prevailing mountain conditions and the climber’s performance during the previous days.

The program ends after the descent to Lake Misurina area.

Accommodation is not included in the guiding fee. The participant must also cover the guide’s accommodation.

The standard program follows the easiest regular routes, with difficulties of up to UIAA Grade IV. The three peaks can also be climbed by more difficult routes, but the price and participant requirements will change.

What climbing experience do I need?

An intermediate level of climbing experience is required. The trip is not suitable for first-time climbers.

Can two people join?

No. Only Cima Piccola may be climbed with two clients. However, because the complete program involves extensive short-roping, a 1:1 guiding ratio for the three-peak itinerary is indicated.

Where will we stay?

You can stay at Rifugio Auronzo or in a hotel near Lake Misurina.

Mountain Guide

Hi! I'm Renato, IFMGA guide from the Dolomites, and I work together with my colleagues Robert, Patrick & Walter (German speaking), Paolo, Matteo, Davide, Giorgia and Luca.

If I'm not available to guide you, one of them will take care of you.

I was born in 1961, I live in Campitello di Fassa, in the Dolomites, together with my family. I have two sons, one is a mountain guide, the other is a ski instructor. I am a certified mountain guide since 1982, an instructor of guides, alpine ski instructor and a Federal coach for ISEF.

Being in the mountains has always been my passion, guiding people, teaching them climbing, mountaineering... during the various seasons of the year. I very much enjoy drawing nice curves in fresh powder snow and discover the charm of the frozen waterfalls.

My curriculum and professional mountaineering is made of many ascents and some openings of routes in the Dolomites and the Alps. I climbed in Yosemite Valley (California), Ben Nevis (Scotland) and Norway, Greece, Spain and Sardinia. I did also several high altitude climbs like Mt Denali (Alaska), Ama Dablam (6828m), Cho Oyu (8201m), Manaslu (8163m), Shivling in India (6545m), Cotopaxi and Chimborazo in Ecuador (5897m and 6310m), Patagonia (Argentina).
