I invite you to join me in this great 1-day trek to the Ahuac Lake. We will enjoy great views of the Cordillera Negra. Also, stunning sights of the white-capped peaks of the Cordillera Blanca, both mountain ranges of the Peruvian Andes.
It think this is a fantastic trek to discover the natural beauty of this region in Peru. The Ahuac Lake is located to the North-East of the Independencia district, in the province of Huaraz. Also, it is near Cerro San Cristóbal.
With our vehicle we will pass the village of Willcahuain. Then, we will walk for 4 hours, along a trail covered by vegetation, until we get to Ahuac Lake. It is a beautiful lagoon of crystalline water. It reflects the blue sky and surrounding hills like a miror.
From there, we will enjoy a spectacular view of the Cordillera Negra. Also, a great sight of the city of Huaraz in the valley below. Besides, the stunning views of the snow-capped mountains of the Cordillera Blanca range.
After leaving the lagoon, we will have the option to visit Willcahuain, a small village and archaelogical site. It belongs to the Recuay culture with reoccupation of the Wari (700-1000 BC).
The name of the site is “La Casa de Nieto”. It has a rectangular structure with overlapping platforms, divided into three floors. They have galleries made of stones together with mortar and clay. Also, we can visit Ichic Willkahuain. They are smaller pyramid-shaped buildings, built with the same style of Willkahuain.
So contact me if you want to join me in this guided trek to Ahuac Lake in Peru! I will be happy to answer any questions you may have about the program. And if you are looking for a challenging adventure, I recommend you to check my 6-day expedition to Nevado Huascaran (6768 m).
