A sub-range of the Cottian Alps, the Ambin mountains are a wonderful group of peaks that stand tall between France and Italy. A few examples of the peaks in the range include the Punta Sommeiller (3,333m), the Monte Nible (3,365m), Mont Malamot (2,917m), and many more. These peaks touch the Italian province of Torino and the French department of Savoie.
Over the course of this trip, we will be trekking for approximately 6-7 hours per day. During our treks, you will get to see an assortment of gorgeous lakes, grassland as well as the aforementioned peaks, which you will even get to scale if the weather is on our side. During the evenings, we will sleep in tents under the stars, or, if the weather is inclement, in one of the refuges found throughout the Ambin mountains.
While you don’t have to be an expert trekker to participate in this trip, you should have some prior hiking experience. You should also be in good enough physical condition to maintain the 6-7 hour per day pace of the trek.
Trekking through the Alps and its subsidiaries is a magnificent way to see, admire and explore the beauty of nature. And on this 3 day trek, I would like to guide you through the wonderful Ambin mountains between France and Italy. To join me, just send me a request. I look forward to hearing from you.
I can also take you hiking in the Belledonne range in the French Alps on this 3 day adventure.

After meeting in Bramans in Savoie, we will make our way to the Le Plan de la Vie, about 10 kilometers away. From there, we will venture through the Col du Petit Mont Cenis, then on to the Lacs Perrin before going to the Vallon de Savine. We will spend the night near the Italian border.
We will cross over to Italy and go to the refuge Vaccarone, then make our way to the Col de l’Angel (3,091m). If the weather is agreeable, we will climb the Mont d’Ambin (3,378m). After the climb, we will return to the Col de l’Angel, where you can admire the lac d’Ambin (2,700m). We will camp for the night near the lake.
The final day’s trek will depend heavily on weather. If it is good, we will climb another peak in the area. If it is not, there are many spots we can visit and explore. Afterwards, we will make our way back through the Ambin valley to our vehicles.
Accommodation Either camping in tents, or various refuges depending on the weather conditions. |

I'm Mountain leader since 2014 and I lived in Savoie (french northern Alps) for a long time before living in Lyon. I already have guided clients in mountains like Chartreuse, Bauges, Vercors, Belledonne, Vanoise or Beaufortain. My favorite kind of hike is in a wild place, out of the main paths, with large landscapes. I know many trips like this during one, two or more days, with refuge or not. It will be a pleasure to guide you, during school holidays or week-ends.
Stay up-to-date on the best adventures.
