Description

Join me on a fantastic 2-day guided ski touring ascent to Aneto Peak (3404 m), the highest mountain in the Pyrenees.

Aneto is located in Posets-Maladeta Natural Park in the Aragon Province in Spain and it part of La Maladeta Massif. It also holds the largest glacier in the Pyrenees.

We will meet in Benasque, the main city in the Benasque Valley, surrounded by the highest peaks in the Pyrenees.  Then we will skin up to the Renclusa Hut, for 2/3 hours, depending on the access route conditions. We will sleep in the refuge that night and next day, we will climb Aneto.

Once in the summit, at the top of the Pyrenees, we will enjoy a wonderful view of the surrounding mountains. Then we ski down on the amazing slopes of Aneto!

So if you want to climb Aneto and enjoy an amazing descent just send me a request! I will be happy to guide you and we will start planning this trip right away. If you have more time availabe, you could take a look at my 5-day ski touring trip in the Aragon Pyrenees, also starting from Benasque.

About the guide

I love what I do and love to transmit my passion while guiding.

After touring the world fulfilling my dreams, I have put together all the knowledge gained and a strong background as a mountain guide to become one of the most versatile, dedicated and professional guides in the Pyrenees.

My resume has technical training in mountain medicine, snow studies, search and rescue complete training, meteorology and botany.

I spend the winters enjoying the unique snow conditions in the Aran Valley, as a ski touring and freeride Guide, and summers climbing the countless areas of excellent rock, either granite, limestone or conglomerate in the Pyrenees. I also spend a lot of time in Iceland during the summer guiding my friends and clients across these incredible landscapes.

While traveling the world, I make every effort to show the beauty of the landscapes, the quality of the rock and the best snow in the Pyrenees to everyone who wants to check them out.

Our 5 day ski tour was an absolutely amazing trip, our guide Roger had unfortunately been unwell and so arranged another guide, Ruth, for the first 2 days. Both guides were fantastic, knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and took us on terrain we would never have imagined was possible for us. We felt safe and in good hands throughout. The huts were comfortable and friendly with great food. It was the perfect introductory ski tour trip that I would recommend to anyone who is thinking of going.

Trip of a lifetime. As with all things mountains, things didn’t go exactly according to plan, weather forced changes, us tired and slow clients forced changes and roger handled these in stride and adjusted the plans seamlessly. He knew when to push and when to back off. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the mountains, history and the local plants and wildlife. I had high expectations for the trip and it was even better than I had imagined, if you’re thinking of doing a trip with Roger, I highly recommend him as a guide in whichever discipline you prefer.

Awesome trip! Thanks to Roger for guiding me to the summit on a really extreme day of wind and rain. Unique and epic day out on the mountain. Also thanks to Maca at Explore Share for helping with the booking to ensure everything went smoothly, especially during these uncertain times. Great service!

It's a long slog of a climb, but doable as long as you're reasonably fit (but you don't need to be an Olympic athlete). The views are stunning. The Puente (bridge) de Mahoma is mentally tough with steep drops either side and some uncomfortable climbs. I'd strongly recommend using a local guide as they help you with the planning, kit and techniques, they share knowledge of the surrounding area that you wouldn't get otherwise and they help you over the more challenging stretches

We had a very good trip — thank you!   Roger was really a great guide and we were very pleased working with Nacho as well.  The itinerary went well and Roger did a good job adjusting the itinerary as needed. Thanks again!

The helicopter was a surprise and it was awesome, it was a great first time experience in the backcountry. Our guide, Roger, was really helpful and patient with us and we found really good snow.  The hiking up was especially tiring when it was really hot but the skiing was epic.

Roger, our guide, really made the trip memorable for us. He had a challenge every day to plan the route according to the snow conditions, temperatures (it was quite warm), the skills and endurance of our kids and keeping it fun for all of us. It really showed that he put thought into planning each day and wanted to find the best route for us to enjoy the backcountry and get some good skiing!  He knows the area so well and every day he planned was awesome. The helicopter trip. It was planned by Roger and something we never would have thought of doing for our children's first backcountry experience but it was absolutely the best. "Double thumbs up" according to Willy, our son. The location that Roger picked out for the skiing and the hotel, Bahns de Tredos, was perfect for being in the backcountry all day and then returning to the hotel for a delicious late lunch, thermal hot tub soak and then a gourmet dinner all in a hut/backcountry setting.  We felt very spoiled!

Roger has the 3Ps, Passionate, Professional and Prudent. I did tour skiing in the Pyrenees (Beciver 2660 m) and the tour was amazing. He adapted his rhythm to the rhythm of the group and he is prudent something that I really appreciate. Going up was hard but then once you get to the top you enjoy the view and you forgot your name. I would totally recommend him. Is not that easy to find trustful guides. He is your man!!!
