Description

Follow the snow to the Northern Alps of Japan and spend eight days ski touring mountains from your wildest dreams! Enjoy incredible tree skiing and unbeatable big mountain lines that you won´t soon forget!

The city of Myoko is located in the Niigata Prefecture, right next door to Nagano and the site of the 1998 Winter Olympics. It receives an immense snowfall, so it is very much dependent on tourism during the winter, which means it is prepared to cater to an amazing mountain vacation.

The terrain here is also a little varied – it includes beautiful tree skiing that adds an extra level and thrill to the backcountry runs. The lines still have the deep snow that you are looking for, so you will tour through untouched powder on captivating routes that simply don´t exist in other places.

Your program is designed to give you access all across the region, so you can try more than 20 different areas. Around the smaller resorts, much of the snow goes unvisited – you will have more than a week exploring new routes and fresh powder. By touring to the remote areas of the mountains, it will feel like the snow fell just for you!

Coupled with my knowledge of the region, I promise I can get you onto the best powder and have a new experience EVERY single day that will add to the overall excitement and fun of your eight-day adventure!

I personally selected your accommodation based on its proximity to both the snow and the restaurants of the nearby Akakura Onsen Village. Your awesome days backcountry skiing will be proceded by relaxing and rejuvenating evenings immersed in the local Japanese culture. You will have plenty of options after your inforgettable days in the snow.

There are some challenging aspects to this program, and it includes steep inclines that will require you to be in good physical shape. Intermediate and advanced skiiers and riders will appreciate this trip.

Book NOW for your turn touring the Japan Alps and living the deep snow lines of Myoko!

I can add a few days in Nagano and make a great Alps to Coast backcountry adventure for you, too! Or we can just swing on over to Hakuba for eight days of backcountry skiing.

About the guide

I am a mountain guide from New Zealand and have been chasing winters between New Zealand and Japan for 15 years.

I have an intimate knowledge of the local mountains and there is a huge variety of terrain and routes to choose from each day.

I have also developed a close connection to the Japanese ski community, the local culture and the people that make Japan such a special place to visit. I hold the cultural aspect of our ski trips as a very important factor in tying together any trip.

Hi, since you insist to get feedback I am happy to give some. I am afraid to say our guide Luis absolutely didn’t meet the expectations. I expect 3 things from a back country guide. 1. Be friendly, communicative and show you are happy to offer customers a great experience . 2. Adapt the experience on the spot to the level of the customers 3. Know the area where you go skiing. None of the 3 items above were met so our group was very disappointed to have spend that much money on a day like this. As a consequence we would not recommend your organisation to others. Perhaps your guide had a bad day or a hangover but if I was the owner I would expect more from my employees. Please note that we don’t refer in this review to our French help guide Cedric who did a good job
