This all day mountain biking descent of Ben Lomond in Tasmania is a truly epic adventure, and I will guide you as we traipse and travail down and around fantastic tracks full of rugged landscape, scenery and terrain broken up by the masses of eucalyptus forest and vast valleys of native Australian vegetation.
Ben Lomond, nestled within its namesake national park, is a mountain located in the Northeast of the island state of Tasmania, Australia, just 60km East of the city of Launceston. It is a very popular and famous outdoor activity location, and is richly biodiverse, with wallabies, wombats and kangaroos regularly seen.
Our trip begins when we meet in Launceston in the morning, and from there we then drive out to Ben Lomond.
Once there it is time to get on the bikes, as we start at 1450m high and begin descending down the Jacobs Ladder trail which leads in to the heart of the native eucalyptus forests.
There are numerous fun and enjoyable single-tracks and fire trails which we connect to, and we finish on the Blessington Road at 400m high.
Along the way there will be ample time to take in and admire the truly awesome and amazing scenery we are riding through, with the huge expanses opening up in front of us taking the breath away. You’ll want to make sure you bring your camera!
Once we are done biking around this glorious land, we then head back to Launceston and finish our journey, thrilled and exhausted at the awesome day we’ve just had.

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice. On the day head to take another group but he quickly arranged another guide Borut, who was brilliant. We had a fantastic morning learning via ferrata at Hvadnik in the gorge. It gave us the confidence to later hire our own equipment and go out in Mojstrana. Altogether a five star + experience. Thank you.
Stay up-to-date on the best adventures.
