Description

The Mayan Riviera, near Tulum in the state of Quintana Roo, Mexico is a magical place. There are remainings of the mayan civilization, with archaeological sites still towering over the jungle, refusing to be forgotten. It is truly a paradise right by the Caribbean sea you cannot miss. And biking across it is one of the best ways to explore it.

There are many places we can visit on this adventure, one of them is Coba. This incredible place has 5 main architectural groups of archaeological buildings. They are distributed around lakes connected by a network of ancient causeways, also known as sacbeoob. The main temple which we can still visit is Nohoch Mul, a 42 meters tall construction, from where you can get the best views of the jungle around it.

Another fantastic place we can explore is the Punta Laguna reserve. This community conscious of the tourist industry participates in developing eco-touristic programs, and promotes activities aimed at the conservation of their culture and land. Here, we’ll encounter dazzling lagoons and cenotes, natural pits that expose groundwater underneath, unique to the area. Also, it is one of the best ways to admire the local biodiversity, including animals like the jaguar, puma, ocelot, agouti and more.

Finally, we can go to Nuevo Durango, a mayan village where we can try the exquisite local cuisine. In this marvellous place we’ll learn more about the mayan culture, their food and traditions.

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice. On the day head to take another group but he quickly arranged another guide Borut, who was brilliant. We had a fantastic morning learning via ferrata at Hvadnik in the gorge. It gave us the confidence to later hire our own equipment and go out in Mojstrana. Altogether a five star + experience. Thank you.
