Description

As its name implies, Cerro Mirador del Morado is located right in front of the imposing southern wall of Cerro El Morado. In addition it is a mountain completely surrounded by glaciers that invites mountaineers from all over the world to dream of great climbs.

This program consists in a 3 or 4 day mountain ascent, depending on the technical and physical level of the group. We will need a day to get to the base of the mountain and the glacier. In day 2 we will focus on glacier and the next day on the summit. Finally we will return to base camp the same day or if the group is tired, we will finish the descent on day 4.

We can climb Cerro Mirador del Morado both in summer and winter. Please keep in mind that the ascent involves some prior technical knowledge and it is more physically demanding during the winter time (from June till August).

About the guide

UIAGM/IFMGA Mountain Guide from Chile

Mountain guide and instructor from the Chilean Andinism Federation (FEACH) and certified Wilderness First Responder.

I’ve opened several climbing routes in Chile, and was one of the first and very few Chileans to summit Cerro Torre, Fitz Roy, Paine Grande and Torres del Paine.

I climbed almost all the technical mountain in Cajón del Maipo, in Central Chile, and did some of the most important routes in Yosemite, Indian Creek and Patagonia.

And regarding ski mountaineering, I skied down Mount Illimani and Huayna Potosí in Bolivia, and Cerro Castillo, Morado Norte and Sur in Chile.

Nicolas is an excellent guide, with incredible mountaineering knowledge and technique (which was particularly worthwhile during our expedition when we encountered harsh winter conditions). His english is also very good. In short, I recommend this mountain guide.

Nico was an incredible guide. I wanted to ski the canaletas in Cerro Arenas and he was excited to take me there. He knows Cajon del Maipo like the back of his hand. Afterall, this is his backyard. He has spent decades skiing, climbing and exploring this region and his knowledge of the terrain and weather is very impressive. His english is good as well, and he is a really nice guy on top of all that. 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for a great ski mountaineering adventure.

My trip with Nicolas was perfect. He catered to my climbing preference and the hot springs at the end of day was exactly what we needed. I would definitely do it again! Thanks Nico for my first experience in climbing in Chile!

The guide did not know the route. We spent a lot of time trying to find the route. The climbing itself was good.

I was really disappointed with Casa de Guias. It was not a terrible experience because Casa de Guias had found a wonderful guide and assistant although they did not know them (allmountain guide). As to Explore -Share I don´t intent to buy anything. I will write a full description of what happened by e-mail.
