Classic Wapta traverse in 4 days

The Classic Wapta traverse is an amazing hiking and skiing spot located in Banff National Park, in the Canadian Rockies.

During this 4-day adventure, you will enjoy a really amazing experience around a glacial lake. The classic Wapta trail will lead us from Peyto Lake to the Great Divide, a very wild route.

Please find below a day-by-day itinerary:

DAY 1

During the first day, you have the opportunity of climbing and skiing in the great Peyto Cirque. We’ll spend the night in Peyto Hut.

DAY 2

On day two, we will start the traverse to the Balfour Hut. On the way, we will climb one or two amazing peaks.

DAY 3

The third day will be a very challenging day because we’ll reach the Balfour High Col. If the climate is on our side, we may make a summit attempt up to 3.285 meters at Mount Balfour. We’ll spend the last night in the Scott Duncan Hut.

DAY 4

During the last day, we will ski through amazing snow runs in the Bath Glacier or the Sherbrook Lake.
