Highlights

* Cerro El Plomo is a sacred Inca spot with Inca landmarks on the path to the summit.

* El Plomo is ideally located close to Santiago.

* This 5000m peak has two different routes, one more advanced, and another more basic, which makes El Plomo a great mountaineering spot for all levels.

Description

Cerro El Plomo is located at an altitude of 5,434 m (17,783 ft) in the Chilean Andes, and is one of the classic mountains of central Chile. Its stunning peak and glacier can be seen all the way from Santiago. El Plomo is also an amazing vantage point to catch sight of other Andean giants in the region, including Aconcagua. On this 4-day mountaineering tour, we will climb to the Plomo summit and enjoy a unique ascent in the Andes.

El Plomo is also an appealing mountain to climb due to its historical relevance. The Incas buried a Kauripaxa, a mummy of a child meant as a sacred offering. Throughout the whole mountain tiny tambos built by the Incas leave a testament to this sacred burial. As you climb, you will be able to observe them and connect with this ancient culture.

Another great thing about El Plomo is that it offers amazing climbing alternatives for both beginner and advanced mountaineers. Options to climb El Plomo include taking the normal route, accessible even to those who don't have much mountaineering experience, or taking a more direct route through the Iver glacier. This second route is more demanding and suitable for mountaineers with more experience.

Regardless of how experienced you are, you will need an excellent fitness level to tackle El Plomo. Furthermore, some prior mountain trekking experience is required even if you are not an advanced mountaineer. Of course, you will have a certified guide to show you every step of the way.

If you would like to join this amazing adventure in the Chilean Andes, please send us a request to book this tour and we will help you make all the necessary arrangements for an unforgettable mountain climbing trip!

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice. On the day head to take another group but he quickly arranged another guide Borut, who was brilliant. We had a fantastic morning learning via ferrata at Hvadnik in the gorge. It gave us the confidence to later hire our own equipment and go out in Mojstrana. Altogether a five star + experience. Thank you.
