Perhaps the most unique of the regions's so-called classic climbs, Glacier Peak sits in the midst of some of the Cascade's most pristine wilderness.
After meeting up in Seattle, we will head for the trailhead and begin our expedition to the 10,520-foot summit of the stratovolcano.
Over the course of the trip, we will experience a diverse array of interesting climbing, from roped glacier travel to mixed snow and ice climbing. We'll also get the chance to work on route finding, traverse crevasses and perform hazard assessments, among many other things.
Our trip begins with a 14-mile approach, during which we will hike through some incredibly beautiful and unspoiled wilderness. As we go, we will pass through ancient old-growth forests in the Sauk River Valley and alpine meadows full of blueberry bushes and wildflowers.
Once we've emerged above the tree line, we will continue to cross high alpine meadows and land formerly covered for millennia by glaciers.
The climbing begins on the third day, when we will make our way up several glaciers and cross a a snow and rock arête, which yields unbeatable views out over the surrounding peaks and landscape.
After passing over Disappointment Peak, we will enjoy some great mixed climbing up to the top, from which the views are even better than before.
So what are you waiting for? Book now for this incredible 5-day mountaineering ascent of Glacier Peak in stunningly scenic Cascade Range!

After making the 2.5 hour drive from Seattle to the trailhead, we will organize our gear and then hike nine miles to the fist camp. Along the way, we will pass through the largest old-growth cedar forest in the North Cascades, before ascending above the tree line to camp. We’ll enjoy great views of surrounding peaks from here.
After getting up and packing up our camp, we will trek through alpine terrain that has suffered glacial recession to the bottom of Glacier Gap or above the White Chuck Glacier. We will set up our high camp here and spend the rest of the day going over some necessary mountaineering skills for our summit attempt.
Getting an early start, we will make our way toward the summit over moderate terrain. There are a few short but steep ascents that we will have to make as we turn the corner around Disappointment Peak before arriving at Cool Glacier. From here, we climb the glacier and traverse a snow and rock arête, enjoying fantastic views, before finishing off the climb with a mix of snow and rock climbing to the summit. After enjoying the top for a bit, we head back down to the high camp.
We will spend these last two days heading back down the way we came and driving back to Seattle.
