Ready to explore the Chilean Patagonia? Then follow me on a fantastic adventure to the stunning Mocho Volcano at an altitude of 2,242 meters above sea level in the Los Ríos region.

Going up the remarkable Mocho Volcano is the perfect way to enjoy the Chilean summer. Mocho is the Spanish word for blunt, a quite appropriate name for this volcano due to its flat, conical shape. This peak is also surrounded by volcanic stones, and shares its volcanic structure with its twin volcano, the Choshuenco Volcano.

One of this volcano’s most stunning features is the glacier you’ll find at the top. Furthermore, the views are simply breathtaking. You’ll get to see Huilo Huilo, the Lanín and Villarica Volcanoes, and the Panguipulli and Piriheico Lakes. During the winter, this is also a great spot for skiing.

The ascent will take us one whole day. The path to the peak has some beautiful forests and we might also run into some snow or ice due to the altitude. Additionally, we might also see some of the local wildlife, including woodpeckers, condors, eagles, wild boars, pumas and deer.
