Situated in a narrow side valley of the Aosta Valley, Cogne is the perfect spot for all kinds of ice climbing adventures!

Over the course of our day together, we will head out into the stunning mountain scenery around the town and make an unforgettable ascent up a local icefall.

Cogne sits just north of Gran Paradiso National Park and offers easy access (along with a stunningly scenic approach) to some of the park's – and Europe's – most famous icefalls.

Based on the prevailing weather conditions and state of the icefalls, we will choose just one of the many diverse options and make our ascent.

There is no feeling quite like climbing on the ice, meticulously making your way to the top. Once we are at the zenith of the icefall, we will be sure to enjoy some of Italy's most gorgeous alpine scenery, before making an exciting descent back down.

Mountain Guide

Mountain guide since 2006, born and grown in Aosta Valley, cradle of mountaineering.

In addition to the mountains at home (Mont Blanc, Matterhorn and Gran Paradiso) I was lucky to be able to make several expeditions to the most beautiful mountains in the world (Antarctica, Alaska, Yosemite, Patagonia, Bolivia, Nepal, Pakistan, etc.).

I like to convey to those who are tied to my rope, the passion that I have for the mountain and my experience.

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice. On the day head to take another group but he quickly arranged another guide Borut, who was brilliant. We had a fantastic morning learning via ferrata at Hvadnik in the gorge. It gave us the confidence to later hire our own equipment and go out in Mojstrana. Altogether a five star + experience. Thank you.
