A truly gorgeous mountain, the Pico Veleta is the second highest peak in the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range, after Mulhacen. It is also the third highest mountain in the Spanish mainland, after Mulhacen and Aneto. Hence making the views from the summit as stunning as they are unforgettable. Furthermore, the peak is located near the lovely city of Granada. As a result, this day long hike makes for a fantastic addition to a trip you may be taking to the city.
Our Journey will begin in Granada. From there, we will take a transport to the Hoya del Portillo. From there, we will go to the Loma del Veleta then to Las Posiciones and then to the summit of Pico Veleta. After you’ve enjoyed plenty of amazing views from the summit, we will then make our way back to Las Posiciones and then to the Hoya del Portillo before taking the transport back to Granada.
The total trek should take approximately 6 hours and covers approximately 14 kilometers. There is an elevation increase of approximately 900 meters. Due to the distance covered and nature of the hike, participants on this trip should be in good physical condition.
The Sierra Nevada is a tremendous mountain range in Spain. And, from the summit of the Pico Veleta, the views you will get of the range are nothing short of spectacular. To enjoy those views for yourself, just send a request. I look forward to guiding you.
