The Fournel valley in the Rhones-Alpes region of France is a wonderful place to visit. The natural landscape is gorgeous. The entire area is a wonder, and in the winter, with everything draped in fresh snow, it appears even more magical. And on this day trip, you will have the chance to scale one of the valley's frozen ice falls!
Ice climbing can be a strenuous activity. Hence why participants should be in good physical condition. It is also a big advantage if you have some previous climbing experience as well. However, if you are just getting your foot into the ice climbing door, you can still enjoy this trip. Because there is a variety of ice falls in the Fournel valley, including the Hirochima ice fall, there is something for everybody.
At the trip's onset, there will be plenty of attention given to checking the equipment. I will also make sure you are familiar with every piece of equipment and how to properly use it. After that, we will start ice climbing.
Scaling frigid ice falls, especially in a place as beautiful as the Fournel valley, is an exercise in duality. On one hand, it can be very peaceful and relaxing, but on the other hand, it is also absolutely thrilling, as you will your body to make it to the top. It is because of this duality, I find ice climbing so incredible.
So if you want to enjoy a day of ice climbing in the French valley of Fournel, just send me a request. I would be happy to guide you.
And if you want to ice climb in another area of France, I can also take you on this day trip in Ceillac.

I'm a fully certified IFMGA mountain guide from Les Hautes Alpes. I'm based very close to the National Park of Queyras.
I was born in a farm in Haute Savoie. I grew up with cows and when I was 1 1/2 years old, I climbed my first mountain...Nooo, I'm just kidding !
I come from Paris and I actually started sailing before mountaineering. I studied in a business school and I realized few years later that actually, my passion was not to sit behind a computer all day but to guide friends and clients in the mountains.
I now live in Les Hautes Alpes and I'll be happy to bring you up there and let you live an unique time. So please contact me and let's start planning a mountain trip you would like to do, during the winter or the summer, for 1/2 or several days !
Stay up-to-date on the best adventures.
