Description

Join us for a scenic winter adventure on Mount Nyukasa, one of Nagano’s most accessible snow trekking peaks!

Mount Nyukasa, on the northern edge of the Southern Alps near Fujimi, Nagano, offers sweeping views of the Yatsugatake range and distant panoramas of the Northern and Central Alps — and on clear days, Mount Fuji.

In summer the slopes burst into color with fields of lily-of-the-valley and more than 100 alpine plant species, while winter brings accessible snow-trekking routes. With gondola access to the summit station, the peak is just over an hour’s walk, making Nyukasa perfect for half-day guided hikes and beginner-friendly snowshoe tours.

We’ll meet at JR Fujimi Station at 9:30 a.m. and transfer together to Fujimi Panorama Resort by the guide’s car or local bus. After fitting your rental gear and snowshoes, a gondola ride takes us up to the summit station, where our trek begins.

From there, we’ll follow gentle snow-covered trails toward the summit — a hike of just over an hour — surrounded by panoramic views of the Yatsugatake range, the Southern Alps, and even Mount Fuji on clear days. Along the way, we can take breaks to enjoy the scenery, stop at a mountain lodge for lunch, or have fun with sledding and light snow play.

Perfect for beginners and families, this guided outing offers a peaceful and perfect day in the Japanese Alps!

What people are saying about Masa

Dev

Masa was a great guide. She shared the history of Fuji and the surrounding area as well as guiding us on our climb. She was very patient and accomodating. She provided helpful tips the day prior to our climb which was very helpful. would recommend her to anyone thinking of climbing fuji in 1 day.

Climbed Mt. Fuji for the first time with my son who came all the way from Boston! We were blown away by the sea of clouds and the endless blue sky — absolutely breathtaking. But what made the experience truly amazing was our guide. From helping us pace ourselves and stay hydrated, to checking our condition at every stage, they were incredibly professional and reassuring. Plus, we learned so many fun facts about Japanese mountains and place names along the way. Safe, fun, unforgettable — huge thanks to Mt. Fuji and our amazing guide!

It was the first time for me to climb up Fuji to enjoy the view at the summit with her guide. Masa has enough experience to provide proper pace on each tour to make our team members feel comfortable.

I storongly recommend Masa. It was the first time for me to climb up snow mountain to enjoy the view at the summit with her guide. Masa has enough experience to provide proper pace on each tour to make our team members feel comfortable.

Our guide, Masa, was very courteous and qualified, and was always on top of everything. She took care of the whole trip, from the pre-trip preparation to the hiking companion, and then to the return trip care, so that we can easily enjoy the Japan hiking trip, do not miss any of the scenery, we are very relieved. We will ask Masa to be our guide next time we come to Japan. Thank you for your help!
