Description

Join us for a scenic winter adventure on Mount Nyukasa, one of Nagano’s most accessible snow trekking peaks!

Mount Nyukasa, on the northern edge of the Southern Alps near Fujimi, Nagano, offers sweeping views of the Yatsugatake range and distant panoramas of the Northern and Central Alps — and on clear days, Mount Fuji.

In summer the slopes burst into color with fields of lily-of-the-valley and more than 100 alpine plant species, while winter brings accessible snow-trekking routes. With gondola access to the summit station, the peak is just over an hour’s walk, making Nyukasa perfect for half-day guided hikes and beginner-friendly snowshoe tours.

We’ll meet at JR Fujimi Station at 9:30 a.m. and transfer together to Fujimi Panorama Resort by the guide’s car or local bus. After fitting your rental gear and snowshoes, a gondola ride takes us up to the summit station, where our trek begins.

From there, we’ll follow gentle snow-covered trails toward the summit — a hike of just over an hour — surrounded by panoramic views of the Yatsugatake range, the Southern Alps, and even Mount Fuji on clear days. Along the way, we can take breaks to enjoy the scenery, stop at a mountain lodge for lunch, or have fun with sledding and light snow play.

Perfect for beginners and families, this guided outing offers a peaceful and perfect day in the Japanese Alps!

From the very start of the booking process Masa was helpful and informative and responded to emails promptly. She picked us on time checking in the day before to check we were on and had everything we needed. We had a fantastic experience, Masa went at a good pace for us and was so friendly and took lots of pictures for us. The mountain hut was good and well organised, we made it to the summit on time for a beautiful sunrise , Masa was the perfect guide and made our trip unforgettable for all the right reasons
