Join me on this half-day of cross-country skiing and I promise you will want to indulge in this activity even more, as we will wind our way around the gorgeous and breathtaking scenery close to Colorado Springs, Colorado, long-known as a certifiable skiing mecca and the ideal place for backcountry skiing.
Colorado Springs is located 100km south of Denver, Colorado, and the skiing regions around are like something out of a postcard, with an abundance of tree-lined alpine forests and near-constant snowfall ensuring the landscape, scenery and terrain always look spectacular, as well as provide ideal conditions for cross-country skiing.
We meet in the city of Colorado Springs in the morning, before heading out to the peaks and mountains on which we will cross-country ski around. Some of the regions we can ski around include Pikes Peak, Cheyenne Mountain, Glen Cove, Hoosier Pass near Breckenridge and Square Top Mountain on Quanella Pass.
We will pass through terrain is that is perfect for people of all abilities to conquer, and to give you an idea of how perfect conditions are here, Olympic athletes from around the world often base themselves in Colorado Springs for training.
We finish in the afternoon hopefully having whetted your appetite for cross-country skiing.
