Half-day Riding in Sapporo with FWQ snowboarder Yumiko Ohta

Sapporo is one of the best locations for a snowboarding adventure in Japan. Don’t miss out the chance to explore this magnificent place with me.

I am a Freeride World Qualifier (FWQ) athlete. I’m also ranked 4th in the world and 4th in Japan. And, I love Sapporo, as it offers unrivalled conditions, perfect for snowboarding. This conditions are thanks to the amazing weather and heavy snowfalls that cover this whole place with fresh and pristine snow every winter.

Also, I love Sapporo because it hosts marvellous ski resorts, including, Takino Suzuran Hillside Park Snow World, Kokusai, Moiwayama, Bankei, and my personal favorite the Sapporo Teine Ski Resort. Due to its ideal location, 20 kilometers from the city of Sapporo, it is one of the easiest resorts to access. What’s more, this small resort located in Hokkaido, hosted the 1972 Winter Olympic Games in Sapporo. It offers thrilling descents and steep powder lines. Moreover, it has two different areas, Olympia and Highland. Hence, even if we only ride along Teine, there are endless options.

Eventhough I would love sharing with you some pro tips, please note I am not a ski instructor, nor a certified mountain guide. Thus, for safety reasons, we’ll stay inside the ski resort during our trip. And, instead of focusing on teaching you how to snowboard, we’ll spend our time riding along together and enjoying the best parts of Sapporo.
