Located in the border between Slovenia and Austria, Mt. Stol (2,236 meters) is the highest peak in the Karavanke region. With 1200 altitude meters of terrain with options for both demanding and easy going snowboarders, you will have the opportunity to enjoy the wonderful surroundings and stay far from crowds on unexplored slopes.

Skiers and snowboarders will enjoy this amazing mountain. My invitation is to follow me to the valley of Bodental in Austria where we will find one of the best routes to explore. By receiving shelter from the sun and wind, this route offers a great snow quality.

During this 1-day adventure, I’ll take you off piste riding to amazing areas, where you will be able to improve your splitboarding skills. Also, I will be happy to explain the basic helicopter procedures as well as the basic facts of avalanche safety equipment.

Our heliboarding adventure will start in an Airfield in Lesce, 5 kilometers away from the Slovenian town of Bled. We’ll start in the morning, although the helicopter ride will depend on the weather conditions for the day. Fog and wind are the most decisive factors.

We’ll then fly up to Mt. Stol and depending on the size of the group, it will take us in between 30 minutes to an hour to arrive. Once in the summit, I will choose the best line depending on snow and weather conditions. And depending on each participant’s skills, I will determine which variations they will be able to take. The descent will take between 2.30 and 4 hours.

We’ll descend to a nice touristic farm, where we’ll relax and have something to drink and eat before heading back with a van. The way back will take about 40 minutes. Keep in mind that depending on the size of the group, this whole trip will take from 6 to 8 hours.

As the  highest mountain in the Karawanks range, Mt. Stol is an ideal mountain for heliboarding. So if you are ready for this amazing adventure, request to book this trip and get ready for a thrill you will never forget.

About the guide

guide profile img

I grew up in Slovenia with Julian Alps as my backyard. Expeditions to Himalaya started when I was 17, started steep skiing at 15, climbing big walls at 13 and it was a natural progression to BASE jump and to become a mountain guide- a job that feeds my soul. I have been to several climbing expeditions to Peru, Kyrgyzstan, Tibet, Nepal and India.

I'm an IFMGA qualified mountain guide as well as an instructor for future guides, ski instructor, certified helicopter operator and a Heli Ski guide. Although my work took me all over the world my favorite place is still in the Julian Alps. Sharing the hidden places in my Home Mountains with my clients, guiding and teaching them to explore on their own is has been my biggest passion for the past few years.

Mountains are my passion. Winter or summer, climbing, flying through the air or skiing, it doesn't matter to me if I am guiding or having fun with friends. I simply get spaced out when I am in the mountains. Guiding for me is not a job - it is a state of mind and a lifestyle.
