Description

One of the most active volcanoes in all of South America**, the** Villarrica Volcano (2,847m) is a sight to behold. And, the climb to the peak’s summit is an experience you will never forget.

Otherwise known as Ruka Pillan, which means House of the Spirits in Madpudungun, the Villarrica volcano offers a great opportunity to enjoy some truly mesmerizing views of the sensational Lakes Region. Furthermore, this particular volcano is one of only five volcanoes in the world, and the only one in South America, that has a permanent lava lake. And sometimes, that incredible lake, which reaches temperatures exceeding 1200 degrees, can even be seen from the summit!

Our trip will begin in the lovely lakeside town of Pucon. We will take a short car ride to an altitude of approximately 1,400 meters. From there, we will begin our ascent of Villarrica. The climb should take about 5 hours, while the descent will take approximately 3 hours. During the journey both up and down Villarrica, you will get to see many spots that offer proof of prior eruptions.

Participants on this trip should be in good physical condition.

One of the most famous, and unique, volcanoes in Chile, Villarrica is a fantastic peak. And on this full-day expedition, I would like to guide you to the volcano’s impressive summit. If you would like to join me, all you have to do is send a request.

Mountain Guide

I was born in the mountains, and outdoor activities have been my passion ever since I was a child. I enjoy rock climbing and have done so competitively. I also enjoy trekking and skiing and have a special affinity for ski touring on volcanoes in my native Chile.

I have been a mountain guide since 2014 and have a vast experience ski touring on the volcanoes near my home in Pucón, a beautiful lakeside town in southern Chile.

If you are looking for an amazing experience in the outdoors, the Villarrica Volcano is the destination for you! This volcano is the most active volcano in all of South America, and you'll even have the chance to see a lava lake as you climb. You can combine this climb with visits to the other active volcanoes in the area to create an thrilling outdoor adventure unlike any other!

Amazing guide and a very memorable experience. It would be better to make the chat function on explore-share better as the UX is relatively clunky.

The organization went out of its way to accomodate my needs, finding a replacement guide very quickly and arranged everything perfectly. Thanks Maca! It was a great pleasure to be guided by Diego - professional and friendly all the way. I could not have asked for more.
