Description

Let me invite you to this outstanding hiking tour to the largest lake of the Cordillera Blanca: the Paron Lake!

Lying at 4200 meters of altitude this amazing lake is located in the valley of Paron, at the foot of the summits of Artezon Raju, Huandoy, Chacraraju, Caraz and Aguja. All of them feed on the crystal water of the lake. In fact, the Paron Lake is the biggest reservoir of fresh water in the Cordillera Blanca.

During this hiking day, we will also be able to take amazing panoramic pictures of the most spectacular peaks of the region. I think it is also an ideal acclimatization day and a preparation for a bigger trek in the region.

The round trip will take us about 9 hours. We will depart at 7 AM from your hotel in Huaraz, after your breakfast. Once in our transfer, we will drive along the Callejon de Huaylas Valley towards Caraz.

Then we will continue driving across a muddy road in order to enter the Paron ravine, where the valley becomes narrower with granite walls on both sides. Finally, we will reach Paron Lake. Here we can admire ferns, bromeliads and orchids as well as quenual trees, a typical vegetation of Peru. Paron Lake will be waiting for us at 4.200 meters of height, with a depth of 73 meters. Its surrounding giant peaks offer us a superb view.

After a short walk down we will come back to our private transfer. Return to Huaraz.

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland.
