This is a classic to discover the Canadian Rockies. The route from Moraine Lake to Lake Louise is unique because it is very varied. We will enjoy off-trail hiking, scrambling, crossing 2 glaciers and some easy use of rope. This is open to intermediate-advanced hikers. We will use crampons but it is very easy.
I like this trip because we traverse the spine of the highest peaks of the Canadian Rockies. The scenery is really beautiful. In addition, we pass through nice and renowned huts (Elizabeth Parker Hut and Abbot Pass Hut).
Moraine Lake is intriguing as it is in the valley of the ten peaks. So you have a big wall of huge peaks just in front of you.
Does this trip sound interesting? Then contact me and we'll leave together! If you choose to come in the winter, we can go backcountry skiing!
The traverse starts at Moraine Lake. We will hike up and over Wenkchemna Pass to the Eagle Eyre. From there we will be hiking off trail up to Opabin Pass and descend the Opabin Glacier to Lake O’Hara. Our mountain home waits for us at The Elizabeth Parker Hut, a glass of wine and a sunset you will not forget!
Early morning on our second day we will hike the All Souls Alpine route and use the Lake Oesa, Yukness ledges connector to approach Abbot Pass where we will spend our second night.
Our descent to Lake Louise will be made via the Fuhrman Ledges to the Plain of six glaciers where we will make our way back to Lake Louise and end our journey.
