Description

Step off the beaten path and run into the heart of the Western Alps on our exclusive 5-day hut-to-hut trail-running trips.

We’re offering two different routes — each with its own unique character and scenery:

  • Chamonix (July 28 – August 1)
  • Aosta Valley (August 4 – August 8)

Both trips deliver a perfect mix of challenge, solitude, and incredible alpine beauty.

Option 1 — Chamonix: Majestic Peaks & Tranquil Meadows

Start and finish in Chamonix, and spend five days circling the Mont Blanc region. Daily stages are 15–25 km with 1,000–1,500 m of elevation gain. Trails pass through lush alpine meadows, quiet valleys and exposed ridgelines, offering constant views of Mont Blanc. Each evening you’ll sleep in cozy mountain huts, enjoy a hearty 3-course dinner, and recharge for the next day — often with no cellphone signal, just pure mountain peace.

Option 2 — Aosta Valley: A Hidden Alpine Paradise

Begin in Courmayeur and traverse high passes, remote valleys and rolling meadows with views of Mont Blanc, the Matterhorn, and Gran Paradiso. Daily distances and elevation match the Chamonix route (15–25 km, 1,000–1,500 m). Expect serene trails that feel far from the crowds, and evenings in welcoming mountain huts where good food and great company await.

More info

This adventure can be a great choice for your first multi-day trail running trip. The trails are generally not very technical, but keep in mind that crossing Alpine mountain passes (cols) often means running on narrower paths with some loose terrain.

To fully enjoy the experience, it helps to be in good physical shape. The days are not extremely long, but they are active enough that you should feel comfortable running on flat and downhill sections without needing frequent breaks. The goal is not speed or setting records — it’s about steady progress and enjoying the journey.

While most of the routes follow marked hiking trails, remember that this is Alpine terrain. Some sections can be steep with loose surfaces. You may also encounter short passages where you’ll use metal ladders or fixed cables as handrails to move safely up or down.

If you are reasonably fit and ready for an active mountain adventure, these trails offer a perfect balance of challenge and reward.

Option 1 — Chamonix: Majestic Peaks & Tranquil Meadows

Run a classic loop around the Mont Blanc region, starting and finishing in Chamonix. Each day covers 15–25 km with 1,000–1,500 m of elevation gain, passing through alpine meadows, quiet valleys, and airy ridgelines with constant views of Mont Blanc. Evenings are spent in cozy mountain huts where you’ll enjoy a hearty 3-course dinner, recharge for the next day, and disconnect from the world — often with no cellphone signal, just pure mountain peace.

Dates: July 28 – August 1

Option 2 — Aosta Valley: A Hidden Alpine Paradise

Begin in Courmayeur and traverse high passes, remote valleys, and rolling meadows with panoramic views of Mont Blanc, the Matterhorn, and Gran Paradiso. Daily distances and elevation gains are similar to Chamonix (15–25 km, 1,000–1,500 m), but the trails here are quieter and feel more remote. At night, unwind in welcoming mountain huts where good food and great company await.

Dates: August 4 – August 8

What people are saying about Explore-Share

Man

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger. Guillaume chose another amazing location (Pic de Bretagne) based on my climbing abilities and preferences and kindly offered train station pick-up and hotel drop off, which I appreciated very much. The multi-pitch route we did was not only fun but also the right amount of challenge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The communication from the team (Gauthier) was prompt and clear—highly recommend!

Maxine

Luis Silva was a great climbing guide and belayer! He taught me how to do moves that were difficult and encouraged me to try routes that were challenging for me! Because of his encouragement, I managed to complete these routes! I really enjoyed the climbs and completed 8 routes in the Sesimbra/Azoia area. The weather was perfect, no direct sun and cool enough to enjoy the climbs. Explore-Share made booking an outdoor climbing experience in Lisbon extremely easy. Luis, our guide, was fantastic, and the platform’s organization was flawless.

Valeriya

Joshua

We had Léo as a guide for our day climb in Fonty. We were blessed with a knowledgeable, warm, and instructive guide. Communication with Léo and Ivan was smooth and swift. Explore-Share was excellent in arranging everything for our day climb. The communication was quick, and the platform was easy to use, making our adventure stress-free.

Cami

Patrick was a great guide. He took us on an intermediate Via Ferrata at Passo Sella. Renato was quick to respond with any outreach on the Explore-Share platform. The booking process was straightforward, and once Patrick was confirmed, all went well. It was a wonderful experience, and I’d highly recommend the platform.
