Description

The frozen waterfalls of the Logarska Valley are a very attractive spot for ice climbers. I propose a journey to Palenk icefall as a great introduction to this activity!

The valley of Logarska lies in the north of Slovenia, close to the border with Austria. Among the several icefalls you can find there in winter, Palenk is one of the most popular, even for those who are just starting out.

First of all, we'll give you the equipment: ice tools, harness, crampons and rope. Secondly, you'll learn how to use it properly to enjoy a safe climb.

Then, after you put on your gloves and helmet, the great moment will come: you'll get the chance of climbing a vertical iced surface for the first time.

In ice climbing, body and mind have to work as one. And once you are able to combine them, the experience is pure joy.

Are you ready to challenge yourself in the icy falls of Slovenia? Then join this 1-day introduction to ice climbing for a new and lively experience!

If you like skiing, you should also take a look at this 1-day ski touring trip in Logarska Valley.

Mountain Guide

I am a Slovenian IFMGA mountain guide with the ZGVS.
It was when I was 12 years old that I first climbed a mountain myself and by the age of 15 I had started rock climbing.
Since then, my ascents count up to around 1000, starting from Mont Blanc in the seventies and Triglav north face to Cho Oyu, and all over South America including 18 of the 6000m+ peaks including a first ascent on south face of Aconcagua.

I have climbed and travelled all over the world, Shivlinga, K2, Mt Everest, Manaslu, Shishi Panama, El Cap and sport climbing in Kalymnos and Cuba.

Skiing powder in great conditions and rock climbing under the sun are my motto!

Contact me if you'd like to have fun safely in the mountains with me! If I am unavailable then my trusted friend guides, Franc and Milan, can take care of you!

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice. On the day head to take another group but he quickly arranged another guide Borut, who was brilliant. We had a fantastic morning learning via ferrata at Hvadnik in the gorge. It gave us the confidence to later hire our own equipment and go out in Mojstrana. Altogether a five star + experience. Thank you.
