K2 & Gondogoro La Trek in Pakistan, 23-day Itinerary from Islamabad

Embark on a journey to the heart of the Karakoram Mountain range yet again with this amazing K2 and Gondogoro La Trek in Pakistan. Witness the soaring towers of Trango, Gasherbrums, Broad Peak and the mighty K2 as you hike on massive glaciers on this 23- day trek.

The journey to the K2 base camp is often combined with Gondogoro La due to their close proximity. The trip begins in the capital city of Islamabad. From here, a scenic flight to Skardu offers spectacular views of the Nanga Parbat and many other towering peaks of the Karakoram range.

Next, we’ll drive along the Indus river to reach Askole. Askole serves as the last inhabited village before we venture into the unexplored regions of the Karakoram.

Our trail leads to the famous Baltoro Glacier, all the way to Concordia, the center of the Karakoram range. Concordia offers exceptional views of the impressive peaks of  K2 and the Broad Peak. Marching forward, we’ll reach the base camp of the second highest peak in the world. And this feeling is simply awe-inspiring!

Further, we’ll stride on upper Baltoro Glacier to head towards the Gondogoro  La Pass (5585m), the highest point of the trek. To cross this pass, we’ll require ice axe and crampons. And as we reach the top of the pass, we are rewarded with striking views of the high peaks of K2 (8611m), the Gasherbrums  (8080m) and the Broad Peak (8051m).

We’ll descent via the Hushe Valley, soaking in the ethnic richness of the warm native people before boarding our final flight to Islamabad.
