Highlights

Join me in this trip to explore the Kamnik-Savinja Alps, in Slovenia. This is an ideal location to discover unspoilt nature. In addition, the culture of the place enriches the experience. Let’s find together these new paths in the most beautiful mountains.
We will visit several famous peaks in the area, for example the Kamnik saddle. We will also go to some 2000 m mountains, like Ojstrica, Planjava and Dedec. Finally, cherry on top is Velika planina.
Velika planina (which means Big Pasture) is the most beautiful mountain in Slovenia. This is due to the breathtaking panoramas, added to the well-preserved pastoral heritage. During this trip, we will even get to talk to the shepherds, getting to know their culture.
Days 1 and 3 are technically easy, while on day 2 there are some more demanding passages.

Do you find this hiking trip in the Kamnik-Savinja Alps tempting? Then please contact me and let’s set a date, I would love guiding you there!

I also organize other trips in the area, like rock climbing in Logarska Valley or a via ferrata in Ojstrica peak.

    Itinerary

    • Day 1Kamniška Bistrica (600 m) - Kamnik saddle (Kamnik hut 1864 m) - * by choice also Brana (2253 m)

We start in the Dom in Kamniška Bistrica mountain hut, in the heart of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps, in the glacier valley Kamniška Bistrica. From here, a trail takes us to Kamnik saddle. It’s one of the most popular in this mountain range. Initially we go through the woods. then we hike with beautiful views of Kamnik, Ljubljana basin and beyond. When we arrive at the Kamnik mountain hut on the Kamnik saddle, we can climb some more to get the best north views al the way to the Logar valley.
An option is to continue to Brana, where we sleep in a mountain hut at the Kamnik saddle.
Duration: 3-4hs, additional 2hs to Brana.

    • Day 2rom Kamnik saddle across Planjava (2392 m) to Korošica mountain (1808 m). By choice ascent to Lučki Dedec (2023 m) or Ojstrica (2350 m)

Today’s trail is more demanding. We go through Planjava, the highest mountain in the eastern Kamnik-Savinja Alps. Then we continue to Korošica. This is a long mountain basin, on the south side of Ojstrica. This is where the Kocbek mountain hut is located.
An option is to go to the Lučki Dedec peak or to Ojstrica.
Duration: 3-4hs, 1-3 extra hs to Lučki dedec or Ojstrica.

    • Day 3Korošica – Konj (1803 m) – Velika planina (highest peak Gradišče 1668 m) – Mala planina (lodging house Domžalski dom, 1534 m) – Kamniška Bistrica

Going over the Konj, with an almost vertical north wall, we go to one of the nicest Slovenian mountains, Velika planina. Here the pasturing tradition is still going. In fact, during the summer the herdsmen settlement is very attractive. The cultural landscape is unique. We can meet them, and also go to the Peskar museum and the Chapel of our Lady of the Snows. In particular, we will learn the history of the trnič cheese.
From here we go back to the valley by cablecar. You can also stay at one of the mountain huts in Mala planina or the Kisovec mountain, extending the trip.
      Duration: 5hs
      Altitude change: 748m

    About the Guide

My name is Peter Jeromel. I could say that mountains are my life.

They are my office with a view and my playground for my free time. I go there with my friends, my clients, my family, my dog or just by myself to clear my mind.

I climb, ski, bike, hike, meditate, explore, share and fill my batteries in the nature.

With my clients I do what Explore-share is all about: I try to give them great experiences in the mountains, while exploring mountain environment and themselves, sharing my knowledge and positive energy to put big smiles on clients' faces at the end of our trips.

I try to bring second biggest mountain range Kamnik-Savinja Alps closer to my clients. This is beautiful, not so well known range where you could do pretty much everything, from ice climbing, alpine climbing and classic mountaineering in the winter to ski touring in spring, sport climbing and rock climbing in the summer or just do nice easy hiking through pristine nature combined with local traditional food and accommodation, all that while avoiding crowds from more touristic areas.

I am certified IFMGA mountain guide, Instructor for Slovenian mountain guide association, sport climbing and alpine climbing instructor, avid mountain biker and in my spare time karate practitioner.

I speak fluent English, Slovenian, Croatian and understand also German and Spanish.
