Description
I invite you to discover the beautiful winter landscapes of the Mercantour National Park, with this great snowshoeing day tour to the Lac des Sagnes, in the Provence region in southeastern France.
We will walk on our snowshoes through one of the most popular snowy vallys in the Alpes-Maritimes department, starting from the village of Saint-Martin-Vésubie, also called Niçoise Switzerland by the locals.
This magical snowshoeing tour takes us from the intimacy of the forest to a former glacial valley, enjoying the bucolic charm of white landscapes of the Haut Buréon valley along our walk.
We will hike on the spectacular frozen surface of the Lac des Sagnes, at the foot of the Cougourde (2921m), one of the most remarkable summits of Mercantour. Very close, we can see the Agnel peak (2937m).
Please note we’ll face an elevation gain of 700 meters during the ascent and reach an altitude of about 2220 meters, so you need a good fitness level to join this tour.

I booked a tour with Fabrice on late May, definitely the highlight of my holiday, we went on a hike around Casterino It was a relaxed hike with great sights of mountain forests and lakes, I got to see some of the local fauna and flora of the park, ibex, marmots, chamois, although not as much as they would be in the area, possibly because of the wolfs (we saw some footprints). Overall it is a great way to see the surroundings. I would definitely recommend Fabrice as a guide for your next hike!
