Description

Join me in this great 1-day trek to Llanganuco Lakes (3850 m) in the Cordillera Blanca, in the Peruvian Andes! We will enjoy a great day hike to Chinancocha and Orconcocha, two beautiful lagoons.

The Llanganuco Lakes are located to the east of Yungay city, in the Ancash Region. They are part of Huascaran National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This park includes most of the Cordillera Blanca, the world's highest tropical mountain range. Also, it's part of the central Andes.

We will meet in the city of Huaraz. Then, we will travel to Yungay. From there, we have a one hour trip by bus to our trek starting point.

The Chinancocha Lake or "female lagoon" is at the foot of the impressive Huascaran mountain (6768 m). Besides, it has an intense turquoise green color and beautiful quenuales forests on its shores.  It is located to the southwest of Lake Orconcocha.

Then, we will continue our hike to Orconcocha, "the male lake". We find this lagoon at the end of the Llanganuco valley. Also, its waters are of a beautiful sky-blue color. It lies 1 kilometre away from Chinancocha.

We can do this trek any time of the year. So contact me if you want to join me! I'll be happy to answer any questions you may have about this Llanganuco Lakes trek. Also, if you want to explore an amazing mountain, join me in my Nevado Pisco 3-day climbing expedition.

Octavio wss injured and we ended up with Hector instead. He is new, but is very friendly and hard working. I would acclimatize more than the stated 3 days at one of the lagoons if you want to increase your chance at success. Communication was lacking a little prior to the trip with no contact until the day before the trip. Overall the crew was great and went above and beyond my expectations.

Where to start, the personal touch, the enjoyment, the focus on the client and safety. A truly enjoyable experience with both brothers. The only bad thing I would say is that the experiences have to come to an end. They have made our honeymoon truly memorable and I wouldn’t change a moment. I would highly recommend using andeanpeaks.com if you want a safe and enjoyable experience with well trained, likeable, friendly, personal and experienced guides. I cannot praise enough. Thank you so so much

We had 10 days in the Cordillera Blanca and Octavio helped us plan a great trip. We did Laguna 69 day trip, Santa Cruz trek, climbing in Hatunmachay, ice climbing and trekking on Mount Pisco. The trip was very well organised and equipment provided was of high quality. Octavio is an experienced mountain guide and climber so we always felt safe throughout the trip. We had a great chef with us when camping and always enjoyed the food he prepared. Also enjoyed chatting to Octavio in the evenings and hearing his great stories!

We had 10 days in Andes (Huaraz as base) and wanted to get a mix of trekking, rock climbing and mountaineering. Contacted Andean Peaks who helped me organize the whole trip. Octavio, who was our main guide and one of the owners of the company was super helpful and quick to respond on both emails and Whatsapp. Octavio is a qualified professional mountain guide. Apart from this, he's also a super friendly guy an a good climber. Bonus points for always being punctual, having great equipment/tents etc, good chef (cooked pizza for us at 4600m!). Highly recommend. Activites: 1 day Laguna 69, 3 day Santa Cruz Trek, 2 days rock climbing, 1 day Ice wall climbing and 3 day Pisco mountain.

Octavio was very responsive with communication considering he's in the mountains most of the time. Octavio is an experienced guide and very accommodating with teaching new skills and techniques. The trip was well organized with all aspects accounted for making the trips enjoyable. During the climbs I felt I was in good hands all the time. The food was certainly a highlight of the trip, 5 star restaurant quality like and better. Will certainly be returning to climb with Andeanpeaks in the near future. Thanks to Octavio and the team!

This guys are great. They are certified mountain guides. The food in the camp was better than the restaurants in Huaraz. You feel safe in their hands all the way to the summit. We climbed 3 mountains in the same tour Ishinca, urus and Tocllaraju. Many thanks to the team they make of the tour a fun place during the climb and in base camp. Totally recommendable

I had an excellent time with Octavio and the whole team at the mountaineering course on yanapaccha mountain in huascaran national park. The preparation was perfect for the final summit day and my first 5000m peak! Octavia and his team always took care of me and were the perfect partners for this incredible experience! Thank you so much!

My husband and I booked a private day hike with Octavio to Laguna Churup. We wanted to try out a company before committing to a longer trek, and now we feel certain that when we return to Peru, we will book our trek with Andean Peaks. Octavio was great- he even met us at our hotel the night before to let us know what to expect and explain the day’s plan (our Spanish is subpar, but Octavio’s English is great). We were picked up promptly on the day of the trek and enjoyed a scenic drive up to the trailhead. Octavio was very patient and in tune to our needs given it was our first day hiking at altitude. The trail to Churup has some challenging sections involving rock scrambling with aid of cables. Octavio was very knowledgeable about the safest way to negotiate and gave us great instruction to help us reach our destination safely. He also assisted two other hikers (not on our trek) as they were having difficulty with the cable climb. I thought that was a great gesture as otherwise they probably would have had to turn around. We took a break at the lake and enjoyed the provided lunch before climbing up the last bit to complete the lollipop loop trail. Everything went very smoothly, and we so appreciate the trip with Andean Peaks!
