Meeting and equipment check
Weather and wind will help us decide where to go, but the goal is to do an alpine tour with around 700-800 vertical meters. If we do Melkefjell, Spanstind or Rivtind we get views of the ocean as a bonus. We’ll be home in time for a sauna before dinner.
We rely on the lifts in Narviksfjellet. We could also hike for a bit. Spectacular views over the fjords and the Atlantic Ocean.
We will have a nice full day of heli-skiing, where we will have an hour of helicopter time for ourselves. It may not sound like much but with our experienced mountain guides and pilots, it means a day of at least five thousand vertical meters of skiing. To have your own helicopter makes finding good powder much easier.
On this day we will go to Rombakstøtta. This impressive mountain above the Rombak fjord has one of the most magnificent views imaginable. Here, we will probably need to use crampons and ice axes close to the summit. If there are good conditions further out on Lofoten we will make a skitouring day trip out there.
Narvik lifts are classic ski terrain with lots of off-piste opportunities.
Transfer to the airport for return flight.
In Trollviken Lodge (double room)
I have climbed and skied all my life but started working as a guide in 2009. I became a fully-qualified IFMGA guide in 2012. I'm based in Herjangen (just north of Narvik in Ofoten, Nordland, Norway) and have been skiing in this area for over two decades. I guide all over the world but prefer to be home in Trollviken! My goal is to share my knowledge and my love for these mountains to increase your skills. I used to be an investment banking executive but I'm a lot better now!
