Type of Trip
If you are looking for a ski touring trip in some of the most stunning sceneries in Europe, this 7-day program in the Lyngen Alps is just for you.
The Lyngen Alps are a mountain range in the north of Norway, above the polar circle.
Along the province of Troms, where it lies the northernmost city in the world, Tromso, we are going to enjoy some of the finest ski touring in Europe.
Very close to the charming city, the mountains reach heights above 1500 meters. However, our base will be Uloya Island, which is only 2 hours by car. We’ll stay at the traditional Handelsstett of Havnnes, in a cozy chalet.
From there, we’ll explore the surrounding area trying to find the best snow and the best runs. Sometimes we may start directly on skins from the chalet, while other days we may use a boat to reach a peaceful bay to start our tour. Our van will also grants us access to many other spots nearby.
However, one of the highlights of the week will be ski touring on the Kagen Island. It will be a stunning combination of great skiing with spectacular views down into deep blue fjords. You can easily spend your whole life up here exploring all the possible ski tours!
Please contact me if you want to join me for an incredible ski touring week in Norway. I will be glad to take you to the best spots there!

If bad weather or unsuitable conditions force the guide to cancel the trip, he or she will: a) propose a similar activity at a different place where conditions are better, or b) propose to postpone the activity until a later date, or c) cancel. If you refuse option a), our cancellation policy will apply. Please note, however, that the call to cancel a trip due to bad weather can only be made by the guide (not the client).

We will stay in the cozy chalets at the traditional Handelstett of Havnnes on the Island of Uloya. The location and the ambiance are unique and there are many things to do after ski touring. You can try fishing or just hang out on the sun deck enjoying a glass of beer or wine on the sun deck. Often we will buy fresh fish from our landlord, all groceries we will do at the supermarket 12 km away in Olderdalen. Our accommodation is located on a very unique island called Uloya, so it is necessary to take a short ferry ride to our homes.
Safety equipment (LVS device, shovel, probe) is available on loan (needs to be registered at least 30 days prior to travel).
Best time to travel there:
The best time to go ski touring in the Lyngen Alps is between mid April to mid May. At this time of the year the snow pack, which can be quite fragile and delicate earlier in the season, usually is stable. We'll enjoy the very long daylight…at this time of the year it does not get dark anymore up here. Also it is not unusual to find powder snow on the north slopes and spring corn snow on the southern slopes.
This items are not included in the price:
- Flight to Tromso
- Alcoholic drinks, beer and wine best to be purchased at duty free at Oslo Airport
- Travel cancellation insurance approx. 57 Euro (please contact me and I can help you to obtain it)
Uphill climbs between 1,000 and 1,600 vertical meters per day or up to 6 hours. You need to have a good skiing technique and experience in ski touring.
