- Discover one of the most spectacular ski touring destinations in the world
- Enjoy unique runs from the top of a mountain all the way down to the sea
- Stay at a cozy and comfortable lodge in the magical Uloya island
We invite you for an unforgettable ski-touring week at Uløya and neighbouring islands in the company of an IFMGA-certified guide, enjoying the most amazing powder runs and staying at our comfy, warm and fully equipped apartments at the Lyngen Outdoor Center.
We recommend you to watch this amazing 1 1/2 min video which has been made by a group of Belgians who came to ski with us in April.
Located in the northern end of the famous Lyngen Fjord in northern Norway, the remote island of Uløya is a truly extraordinary place. Unique landscapes of stunning peaks and steep walls falling straight into the sea, and lots of powder snow, make for one of the most spectacular ski touring destinations in the world.
Uløya is the only place on Earth where you can find 1000m-long slopes inclined at almost any angle, and falling right into the dark blue waters of the fjords. This is the Arctic, where you can really feel like you are at the edge of the world!
Skiing conditions here are truly exceptional, with lots of fresh snow and slopes for every difficulty. We have perfect powder in Uloya almost all the time, as the air is very dry and snow hardly gets compressed. In late spring, the snow cover is just perfect and creates a perfect surface to slide on. The snow that has melted during the day gets frozen again at night, creating a unique sliding layer several centimeters thick.
Every day, our ski tours start right at the doorstep of our house. For instance, a 15km trip takes you to the summit of Blåtinden (1142m). From there, we can ski straight down to our front door again, arriving just in time for a cold beer and a relaxing hot sauna.
Uløya offers many great ski tours, including the famous Grand Traverse of Uløya, from Uløybukt to Havnes, a 20 km of ridge skiing taking in Kjelvagtinden (1104m), Uløytinden (1114m) and Blåtinden (1142m). Skiclimb Touring is Uløya’s specialty, a mix of ski-touring and mountaineering. The best of these routes is a 15km trip with an elevation of 1200m. It is a loop of Blåtinden, beginning and ending in Uløybukt.
During your stay you will have a modern and safe boat (8.5 m or 7.2 m, 150 HP aluminium) at our disposal. So, if you fancy something different, you can take a trip to explore neighbouring islands, or a 40 minute trip across the Lyngen Fjord enjoying a tour of the impressive Lyngen Alps.
If your thing is rock or ice climbing, virgin couloirs, icefalls and rock walls await you here. If you’d like to enjoy a quiet day, you could try sea fishing. Our skipper can take you to the fishing grounds where you can catch your dinner. Catching a 30 kg fish is not unusual here! And if you come with your kids, there are lots of activities that the family can enjoy together: fishing, snow-hole building, games using Arvas (searching and digging our a person, etc) and easy ski tours.
We offer stays for groups of 3 to 6 people in really comfortable apartments, with breathtaking views. Our guides will help you get the most out from this experience, taking you to the best ski touring routes and to the most amazing hikes and climbs. They are all experienced IFMGA- certified, with excellent local knowledge. Our chief guide is Pawel Karczmarczyk.
They will ensure your safety at all times and help you improve your skills, offering advice on all aspects during your stays. They will share with you their knowledge of the area, topography and navigation equipment. Our chief-of-staff and skipper will not only drive your boat, but also cook a delicious fish soup for you!
The island of Uloya and the Lyngen Fjord area boast a magical and unique scenic landscape, with multitude of small islands, inlets and rocky outcrops, allowing you to enjoy breathtaking panorama views from every corner.
Please note you will find the best weather and conditions for skiing from March until end of April. End of February differs from year to year. Although days are considerably shorter, you can see the beautiful Northern Lights. You do need to be prepared for all kind of weather and conditions during your stay.
So if you wish to discover this ski touring paradise in Norway, just send us a request! Book your trip and join us on this trip of a lifetime!

BEST TIME AND SNOW CONDITIONS
Weather in February is more uncertain than March in April. February is really hard to predict and quite variable: it could be icy and cold. or you could have lots of powder and sun. You could actually ski on hard neve and ice, but skiing on ice is more dangerous. Usually there is no powder in February.
March and April could be too warm -with snowline at 300m- or it could be great. In contrast to February, in March and April you get a melted layer on top, which makes your skiing almost limitless.
