Description
Standing at the head of the Cascade Range, Sahale Mountain is a jagged and glaciated peak in North Cascades National Park, which is perfectly suited for novice mountaineers.
Rising to 8,680 feet in elevation, the rocky peak towers above the Stehekin Valley, offering panoramic views of the surrounding scenery.
Starting from Sedro Woolley, we will meet up and go over the itinerary before making the two hour drive to the Cascade Pass trailhead at 3,600 feet.
From here, we will make the four to five hour hike up to our main camp. Depending on how much time we have, we may even hike up toward the summit in order to enjoy a spectacular sunset over the Cascades.
On the following day, we will get a pre-dawn alpine start and make our way to the summit. From our camp, we will traverse the Sahale Glacier until we reach the base of the summit pyramid.
From here, we will partake in some grade three scrambling in order to make it to the summit, where we will enjoy fantastic views of the surrounding mountains and wilderness.
After getting our fill of the summit, we will rappel back down to the glacier and descend back to our high camp, pack everything up and hike back to the trailhead.
