Description
Ski with a professional on the uncrowded slopes of Niigata at the Maiko Snow Resort in Japan! Tucked not-so-far away to the north of the Yuzawa region of Honshu, this delightful program offers great routes for all levels of athlete who want to ski a day with one of the top 50 pros in the country!
With relatively seamless access to Tokyo, Niigata and its snow sport destinations are some of the most accommodating in all of Japan. The geographic location between the surrounding Japanese Alps and the Sea of Japan provides this vibrant ski community with an abundant snowfall. The quality of the snow is just as fantastic, making the Maiko Snow Resort a one-of-a-kind ski adventure.
This is where you – and I – come in! I am currently the 19th-ranked male Freeride World Qualifier skier in Japan, and I would love to have a right-hand man or woman to explore the slopes of the Maiko Snow Resort! This incredible resort, while easy to reach from Tokyo, enjoys uncrowded runs that are perfect for beginner and intermediate skiers. There are also enough advanced lines and runs for the more seasoned veterans to discover.
We will spend the day scouring Maiko for the best snow and the best routes, enjoying the breathtaking scenery that defines the Japanese Alps. There is a variety of fun to be had – alpine bowls, moderate to steep runs on either side of the resort, and hoards of sweet, sweet powder! You can try out each part of the terrain in the company of a ranked professional. While I am not a certified instructor, I can share some of the trade secrets that have helped shape me into a pro.
I love this area, and I know you will, too. Everyone is invited to share in this incredible experience. You should be able to assess your own abilities and ski to your level. Our program will be contained to the resort area runs.

I am not a certified mountain guide, so please keep in mind that, for safety reasons, we will stay within ski resort boundaries at all times.

I've been skiing for 30 years and am a SAJ (Ski Association of Japan) Ski instructor.
Between 2006 and 2014, I was a SAJ Demonstrator. Since 2013, I've been running the Maiko Ski School. In 2018, I took part in the FWQ competition at Arai and came in 6th.
I've been a local rider at Maiko Ski Resort for a long time and I know every corner of this ski area. I'll be able to teach you and give you tips on Racing, Technical skiing, Freeriding, Telemarking or snowboarding so that you're able to enjoy the mountains like never before!
I also spend some time every season in the US or Australia as a pro rider.

Climbing with guide Guillaume was absolutely a highlight of my 2-week Europe vacation. Originally, we were planning on climbing in the Calanques, but the park was closed due to wind and fire danger.
