Description

If you would like to acquire the basic mountaineering knowledge and skills, this course is for you! I recommend it as a great preparation for spring or summer climbs in the Rockies, the Cascades and Alaska.

The Wasatch Range rises to altitudes of 11,928 feet (3,636 m) and stretches for 160 miles from the Utah-Idaho border, south through central Utah.

The course will be held from 7AM to 3PM. I will teach the proper use of ice axes and crampons, as well as self-arrest techniques with an axe.

We will cover all climbing techniques, progressing from climbing in balance using duck-foot, crossover-step, sidestep, and plunge-step; to self-belay with piolet cane, high and low dagger, and piolet traction; and finally to flat-footing and front-pointing with crampons. Lastly, I will incorporate the rope, explaining the proper tension required, how to step over the rope for turns, and the dangers of being roped.

If you are interested in getting into alpine mountaineering, don’t miss this opportunity. Book this course now!

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS TRIP IS ONLY PROPOSED ON THE DATES LISTED BELOW.

If you are looking for other winter activities in the area, I recommend the guided backcountry ski touring clinic and 2-day splitboarding clinic in the Wasatch Mountains.

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice. On the day head to take another group but he quickly arranged another guide Borut, who was brilliant. We had a fantastic morning learning via ferrata at Hvadnik in the gorge. It gave us the confidence to later hire our own equipment and go out in Mojstrana. Altogether a five star + experience. Thank you.
