Description

Would you like to join a unique springtime backcountry ski adventure in Japan? Then come with me to Tateyama and I will show you the best powder in the area.

We will begin our trip by meeting at Ougisawa station around 8 am. From there, we will take a 1 and 1/2 hour bus and cable car transfer to Tateyama. After a day of unforgettable skiing, we will spend the night at a mountain hut with access to typical Onsen hot springs. The next day, we will enjoy some more fun out in the snow until around 3 pm. We will return to Ougisawa station at 5 pm.

Keep in mind that we will spend around 2-3 hours climbing with a 600m elevation gain. Therefore, you will need a good fitness level. However, I will be happy to tailor the adventure to suit your preferences. Additionally, keep in mind that you will need prior ski touring experience as well as be able to handle your own equipment (climbing skins,  ski touring boot, ski crampons). Of course, I will be there to guide you every step of the way.

So, are you ready for some springtime backcountry skiing in Japan? Then contact me now and let’s start planning your adventure!

Ski Guide

At the age of 21, I moved to Canada and wholeheartedly took up skiing. Inspired by North American ski culture and local skiers, I was also interested in skiing in the mountains. After I completed the Yamnuska Mountain Semester, I returned to Japan and joined the mountaineering club to learn more about mountaineering.

I became independent and began a professional guiding career in January 2020.

Aside from my guiding business, I still continue to go to the mountains with the goal of embodying Mr. Tsugita's words: "From the summit inaccessible to skiers, descending paths unfit for climbers."

My guiding philosophy is 【 More mountains in your life 】

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice. On the day head to take another group but he quickly arranged another guide Borut, who was brilliant. We had a fantastic morning learning via ferrata at Hvadnik in the gorge. It gave us the confidence to later hire our own equipment and go out in Mojstrana. Altogether a five star + experience. Thank you.
