You like to look at the world from above but don’t have any climbing experience? This day trip will allow you climb to the top of Shepherd’s wall in Decin in complete safety!

First, you’ll try via ferrata in the morning. Cables, bridges and ladders will help you reach the top of Shepherd’s Wall. You won’t need any technical skills, though a good fitness level and a good head for heights are definitely necessary.

This via ferrata has been built recently and is a great alternative to enjoy the famous Decin sandstone walls. You’ll get to enjoy truly magnificent views of the area’s landscape, including its incredible rock formations.

Once you’ve gained some via ferrata experience in the morning, we’ll spend the afternoon covering the basics of climbing. You’ll learn about progression and security and how to belay and abseil. Then, at the end of the day, we’ll share our stories at the local pub!

Alternatively, if you already have some rock climbing experience and would like to try sandstone climbing, check out my sandstone climbing in the Elbe Valley program.

Join me on this fun day of climbing and via ferrata in beautiful Decin. It’s a great way to enjoy the sandstone mountains, even if you are a beginner!

    About the Guide

I'm an IFMGA-certified mountain guide currently based in the Elbe Valley, Czech Republic. I've skied since a very young age but climbing is my true passion. I was in climbing representation and have climbed many big walls in the Alps, the US and Greenland. To me, mountain guiding is a unique profession: it allows me to spend my days doing what I like and to share with others the beauty I find in in the mountains.

What People are Saying about Tomas Bardas

The guide was nice. We went upto Studel hut. Next day the weather was very bad and hence we could not proceed further. We had no time to extend our day further. Never mind. We shall think of it again later. Tanks and regards.
