Discover a unique area of the Pindus Mountains led by a local, certified guide and photographer and spend 2 days in a beautiful wilderness setting as you set off to discover the amazing Vikos Gorge and the area of Mount Tymfi, where Dragonlake is located.

The 2-day trek starts from Monodendri village, and from there each step you take will be amazing. On the first day, you will enjoy hiking under the gigantic walls of the gorge, and on the second, you will continue to the alpine area of Mount Tymfi, where you will have the chance to climb to the gorgeous Dragonlake. You will return with an unforgettable memory of the beautiful Zagori area in Greece, famous for its one-of-a-kind morphology that nature has sculpted out over millennia.

Itinerary

Day 1: Vikos Gorge

We will set off from Monodendri village towards Vikos gorge stopping by the Voidomatis River where the brave can enjoy a refreshing swim. Afterward, we will continue to Papingo village for dinner and a good night's rest.

Day 2: Dragonlake

We will set off from Papingo to the Astraka hut, at an altitude of 2000m. The trail begins with a forested path above Mikro Papingo and then leads to Mount Tymfi and the ridge where the hut is located. From there, we will head to the beautiful Dragonlake and explore the surroundings before returning to the hut for dinner. The hike ends at Mikro Papingo after a relaxing descent from the mountain hut.
