Description

The Wasatch mountains near Salt Lake City are a fantastic collection of peaks that provide great climbs for any mountaineer. And on this 2 day seminar that takes place in those mountains, our goal is to help you learn a number of important skills that will help you prepare for future climbs. Just a few of the great peaks we believe you will be ready to climb after this seminar include Aconcagua (6,962m), Denali (6,190m) and Rainier (4,392m).

On the first day we will make our way to a camp in the Wasatch mountains by skis or snowshoes. During the trek, we will review route selection and travel protocols for avalanche prone terrain. We will also help you with pace and techniques of how to ski or snowshoe with a load. The camp will be at an altitude of approximately 3,000 metres.

At the camp, we will cover how to properly use crampons and an ice axe, along with various rescue techniques. We will also teach you how to melt snow for water, cook and stay warm while in high altitude.

On the second day, you will take what you learned the day before and climb one of the Wasatch mountains’ peaks. During the climb, we will help you maintain fitness, while also providing you with tips on how to stay safe.

Thank you explore-share for a wonderful via feratta experience. We have been wanting to learn for a long time but don't have the facilities in Scotland. The guide Mitja was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my many questions and providing advice.
