The mountains of Georgia form the famous Little Caucasus, whose average elevation is around 2000 meters. The highest peaks are situated on the Russian side.
Georgian language. It uses its own alphabet, which is impossible to understand for foreigners.
Winter is very rainy, with lots of snowfall. The lower areas, such as Svaneti, usually have hot and long summers, but as the altitude increases, the weather gets cooler.
Spring and summer months, from May to September. July and August are the best months for hiking.
