Zugspitze can be found on the border of Germany and Austria and sitting at 2,962 meters, it’s the tallest mountain in Germany. The Alps are the parent range of Zugspitze, and there are a large number of interesting hiking routes to be explored there.
A great way to take in the beautiful landscape and enjoy different hikes is to plan a multi-day trip. A hike from the Zugspitze resort of Garmisch to Meran in Italy would take around seven days. There are traditional mountains huts along the way to stay in and this adds to the alpine experience. There are also other great hikes closer to Garmisch so a shorter hiking experience is possible too.
It's fairly cold here all year round with temperatures averaging 2 degrees celsius in the summer and -10 in the winter.
Fly to Munich airport then take a transfer or drive to the mountain.
