A perfect national park in a hidden corner of the Bavarian Alps

The Berchtesgaden National Park is located in Bavaria, a state in the southeast of Germany and right on the border with Austria. Due to its unique beauty and natural wealth, it has been declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO since 1990. In addition to its impressive landscapes, the Berchtesgaden climate is ideal for people with respiratory diseases, which makes it an interesting destination throughout the year. Two thirds of the territory belongs to Ramsau bei Berchtesgaden, a town with excellent options for hiking around the fantastic Hintersee Lake. You will arrive there by a trail that crosses the Zauberwald, a forest in the middle of steep rock formations. The other part of the Berchtesgaden National Park corresponds to the municipality of Schönau am Königssee, on the shores of the King’s Lake, which is surrounded by high cliffs and is the deepest and purest lake in Germany. On its eastern bank is Mount Watzmann, a must-see for hikers and mountaineers who plan to visit the park.
