Abisko guided ice climbing day trips

Prepare for an extraordinary encounter with Romsdalshorn, an iconic and formidable mountain known for its challenges in Norway. Embark on this amazing alpine adventure led by certified IFMGA Mountain Guides.

We will climb the North Wall, a classic alpine climbing choice.

Our journey will start in the Vengedalen Valley, a quick 20-minute drive from the regional center of Åndalsnes. Upon arriving, we'll start our hike along the trail leading to Litjfjellet, a small mountain that offers a stunning view of the Romsdal valley.

Continuing along the ridge, we'll ascend towards the Gap, a col where we'll prepare for the rope work. The initial 100 meters involves easy scrambling, but as we progress, the wall becomes steeper, leading us to engage in pitch climbing to reach the summit—approximately six pitches, covering around 200 meters of ascent.

For the descent, we'll rappel back the same way we ascended. Typically, we begin our adventure at 07:00, and the entire trip can take from 7 to 10 hours.

While the overall altitude difference is moderate at 700 meters, a significant portion of the ascent entails rope work in exposed terrain; thus, prior experience with heights and mountaineering is recommended.

We'll meet in the Vengedalen Valley, a mere 20-minute drive from the regional hub of Åndalsnes. There, we will go to Litjfjellet, a small mountain near Romsdal valley.

We will continue along a ridge to the Gap, where we'll gear up and start our climb.

The first 100 meteres will involve easy scrambling. As we continue, the walls will become steeper. Then, we'll transition to pitch climbing fro 200 meters, spread across six pitches. We'll rappel on the way back.

The entire trip will lasts approximately 7 to 10 hours.

Jutting out of the sea, Stetind is Norway's national mountain and a natural treasure that is well worth discovering on a unique climbing adventure to its summit. This gorgeous 1,392 m (4,567 ft) peak is one of the 3 most important climbs in the country next to Store Skagastølstind and Romsdalshorn.

We will climb Stetind via the Normal Route which goes up the East Ridge.

We will begin at sea level and wind up through a lovely birch forest until we reach Svartvannet, where we will stop to rest. From there, we will continue on a steeper scramble up to Stetind's false summit, where we will put on a harness and tie ourselves into the ropes. Once safety is in place, we will continue up a ridge: It will take courage as it is the most difficult part of the tour, and involves dangling high above the ground. After taking that leap of faith (we will be by your side to help and guide you), the prize is the fantastic view from the top with the Lofoten mountains on the horizon and the Narvik glaciers in the back.

In order to climb Stetind, you need a good fitness level and you should be comfortable with some exposure and heights. Previous climbing experience helps, but is not mandatory.

Climb Stetind, Norway's National Mountain

Learn the basics or the most difficult rescue scenarios – or anything in between- on this unique rock climbing course in Lofoten. While you acquire new skills, enjoy the long midnight sun days, perfect granite cracks, glaciers, and beautiful mountains.

The midnight sun is a unique phenomenon that can only be experienced in the Arctic circle and its surroundings. The 24-hour sun period that these select places such as Norway go through is an event in itself. If you pair that with stunning landscapes, you have a perfect combination for an energy-charged experience.

The Lofoten Archipelago is a  breathtaking place where the midnight sun shines bright. With its stately mountains rising up from the sea, it is full of majestic landscapes and, in the summer, great rock climbing opportunities. On this rock climbing course in Lofoten, I would like to teach you valuable skills and show you some of its most stunning vantage points!

The first thing we will do before setting off is a quick equipment check. We will also run through some rock climbing techniques. Then, we will head out to discover the Lofoten gems. As we climb high up the granite peaks, we will catch some gorgeous views of the coastline and surrounding mountains, while putting to practice what we are learning.

We will not only have light, but also a lot of physical energy to tackle some superb climbs. I will adapt the course content to your preferences and needs.  Additionally, Lofoten has some beautiful towns and great food so it’s well worth touring over the span of a few days. Long ones at that.
